I have the exact same laptop as you. I've had this problem before. I bought the DVD's from Acer to reinstall everything and there are times when they don't work. I left it sit for a week and it stayed on the same screen. I would just keep trying, or order the DVD's from Acer. It will cost about $30 but might be your only chance.
I don't know if this is a flaw of this computer or not, but even with a different HDD in it it does the same.

I need to know how to reset my acer aspire 6930 to factory settings!!!!!

A slightly different model requires pressing Alt+F10 at the start up and following the prompts. This will wipe the hard drive though, so back up everything important first. You can probably still get the data even if it doesn't boot Windows.

I have an Acer Aspire 6930 and my husbands friend said he could fix it and now I windows xp and not vista how can I restore my computer to factory default settings?

You require either a rescue disk, made by that machine or a new Vista OS disc.
Running XP will not work as there are no specific drivers for the mother board because XP doesn't support a machine that is so new comparatively speaking.

Restore to factory default

Unlike other laptops, Acer notebook/laptops integrate a computer management utility called 'Acer eRecovery Management' to create backup of hard drive data, create restore point, reinstall applications & drivers, and reset Acer Aspire 4315 to factory setting.

Step 1: Before starting your Acer Aspire 4315 laptop, ensure that there is no external storage device attached to it. Now start your laptop.

Step 2: Press 'Alt + F10' when the laptop starts booting, and wait for a moment while Windows loads the reset files.

Step 3: When 'Acer eRecovery Management' window appears, select 'Restore System from factory default' and click 'Next' to continue.

Step 4: Again click 'Next' to reset your Acer laptop. This process will erase all data from your hard disk and reset your Acer one to original factory settings.

Step 5: Click 'OK' in the notification window to begin the the resetting operation. Now wait while your Acer Aspire 4315 is reset to factory settings.

Tips: You can also create a backup copy of your notebook data before factory reset. Simply click 'Backup' in 'Acer eRecovery Management' window.

Windows vista home basic problem (acer aspire 6930)

Unless you can find and verify you have an orignal CD there is nothing you an do but buy another license for th use of Vista. If you made a back up set up. Have yo ulooked at the bottom of the laptop. Most of the time it has the Vista sticker with the key for your windows use. reinstall and use that key.

WIreless Controller

if you just want drivers for windows XP, try this link:

If you want to completely reinstall Vista, to factory defaults...

First, if you created backup disks when you first purchased the computer, you could use those.

Second, i'm not certain if this will work on this specific model, or after the changes you made, but there MIGHT still be a backup partition on your hard drive:

to TRY reseting to factory defaults from the hard drive, press alt-f10 when you first turn on the computer, and hold it down until a recovery screen comes up.   I don't know if that will work or not.

Third: you can order a recovery CD from Acer here:
