The easiest way to get it out would be to use a couple of long sewing needles and put them in the jack on either side applying a little pressure (Not to much or you'll have broken needles in there too1) like chopsticks try and pull it out. Make sure you do this with the power off. If you want to salvage the headphones the connector will need replacing, they can be bought at most electronic stores. It's a 3.5mm headphone jack that your after. They can give you instructions for fitting at the shop, it varies depending on the connector.

Check to make sure you aren't using it on a bed, carpet, lap or anything that blocks the cooling vents, as this may be the problem. If you are not blocking the vents, you may have a lot of dust built up inside. Get some canned air and blow out all of the vents and ports. If this still doesn't solve your problem, you may have a program running that is very demanding on your processor, ram, video card, or hard drive. Is your computer very slow? If it is, this may be the problem. Finally, does your fan work? Can you hear it or feel it moving air out of the vents? If not, this could also be the problem. You can format by doing a fresh install of Windows. What operating system are you using? If you are using Windows and you have the windows installation disk then you can easily reformat your HDD. All you have to do is go into you BIOS (When your pc starts press <F2> repeatedly. When your BIOS is up look for your (BOOT Partitions). With the Windows disk in the disk tray it should show up on the list of partitions. Move the disk drive so it adds the Windows installation disk as the main boot partition. When you are done with the bios settings restart your pc and the installation disk should prompt you to install a fresh version of windows on the next startup. If you have Windows hope this helps :)
