Strange clicking noises

Recently, my Nokia 445X monitor has been producing strange clicking noises as I boot up my computer into Windows 98SE, and after Shutdown before the computer turns itself off. In the former case, the noises occur between (not during) screen shots of my usual BIOS information, RAID and SCSI controller scanning, and AVG Free boot scanning. Once in Windows, there is no problem. This did not happen before. Can anyone out there tell me what can be generically causing such a phenomena in a monitor such as mine? Could it also be my video card (ATI Radeon X800 Pro)? Thanks ahead of time for any assistance that can be provided on this somewhat vexing problem...

Laptop can not boot,noisy hdd

Hello, welcome to Fixya!

It is obvious that the hdd of your laptop is defective. The HDD has some bad sectors which is most likely beyond repairs.

You need to replace the HDD of your laptop because the noise you are hearing is an indication that the HDD is defective.

I hope the above information is clear. If not clear, please let me know.

Regards.

Monitor goes on and off........seemed to come on for the xp boot, but then disappears or is intermittant when the xp login page appears. Only fix sometimes is to reboot the computer. Very strange. Only...

In your Windows XP
  1. Go to Start and click
  2. The Start menu will open
  3. In the start menu click settings
  4. In the settings select "Control Panel"
  5. The Window of control Panel click "Power Options"
  6. In the Power options you will find Display time settings. These are the time settings that determine the time like if your computer stay idle for 5 min, the display will shut down.
  7. I suspect that this time is set to be very low like if there is no activity on the computer such as key punching, typically happens when you are reading an e-book Windows will automatically shut down the display. So you can increase the idle time to say 7-10 minutes and/or a similar setting is "Put the computer to sleep". Try to carefully alter the time values and you will find a good settings that work for you.
If the above tip does not work then there is definitely something wrong with your monitor's hardware most probably the power supply. You need to check it with a repair shop.

Good Luck!

Boot performance monitoring error

>> Tired to reboot several times and still no video.
>> Waited until the next day and the video was working.
>> Very strange.

Sounds like overheating, either inside the monitor, or on the video-card, or inside the computer.

When it happens again, disconnect the data-cable from monitor from the desktop computer, and connect the data-cable to a laptop computer.
If the monitor works, then it's not the monitor that is the problem.

Also, when it happens again, have another monitor, and connect it, to see if the other monitor works, or if the video-card cannot "drive" either monitor.

Dell Dimension 515 Cannot load up Windows, boots up but then makes strange buzzy noise and loses connection to monitor. Tells me that last configuration was incorrect and offers me options as to how to...

If your computer can still try to load windows it is not a hard disk failure. Just try repairing your current installation via your restore disk, hopefully it either came with it or you made a copy of the image from your backup partition.

Internal Hard Drive noise

it only means that your hard drive is experiencing bad sectors and it might become a mechanical problem which eventually the device should be replaced once the hard drive cannot be read or detected anymore. there is no solution to it.. all you have to do is wait.
