Speaker issues I've had my speakers for over 2 years and they've worked brilliantly up until recently. The other day when playing a video on a website my sound suddenly went very loud and turning the dial on the central speakers didn't do anything at all. Instead I had to lower the volume of my computer.
If that wasn't bad enough, now when I turn the dial it makes a strange noise through all of the speakers - like the sound they make when you touch a microphone or breathe on it...
It also makes that sound randomly when I have the speakers on.
Also, when having the speakers on, they will go silent randomly for anywhere between seconds and minutes before it comes back on, making the strange noise before it does. Other than the volume issues and the strange noise, the sound is fine - it's not distorted in any way just loud.
I've tried reinstalling drivers and checking everything is plugged in OK, under the advice of computer savvy friends, but nothing has helped. Any ideas?

I've tried using the balance for left and right speakers, and when the receiver is acting up with the right speaker having a low volume, I tried moving the balance all the way over to the right speaker. The right speaker volume will not increase in volume but the left speaker will decrease in volume.
Just to clarify, the center and the rear speakers are balanced. The issue only happens sometimes when I first power on the receiver I will have no center channel. If I leave everything alone for a few mins, the center channel will come on.
So it seems to me that something one the receiver is going. The question is, can anyone suggest a physical repair for the receiver for these symptoms?
have the same model. just got it to work. but, struggling with one part. here's the scoop. 1. Plug your second zone speakers into the SURR BACK/AMP ASSIGN speaker outputs on the unit. 2. You need to "amp assign" the speakers to zone 2 by pressing AMP, MENU, select SPEAKER SETUP, AMP ASSIGN and scroll to ZONE 2 - this will force the sound to the speakers that you plugged in. 3 - Turn on Zone 2 (press Z2, press ON button on remote). Use the UP/DOWN arrows to select the input for Zone 2. I've only been successful in selecting USB and plugging my iphone in for zone 2. For some reason, I cannot get the SAT (cable box) to play in both zone 1 and zone 2 at the same time. But, I can get SAT in zone 1 and USB in zone 2. Hope that helps. Let me know if you can solve my issue...
If you have a external speaker try to connect the external speaker and check how the sound works on the external one.. If it works well then the internal speakers have gone bad.. Contact the computer manufacturer to replace them.. If the sound plays scratchy in the external on then unistall the drivers from the device manager and reinstall a fresh copy from the support website of the computer manufacturer.. If you dont have a external speaker better reinstall drivers if the issue is not fixed contact the computer manufacturer....
FOR MACS... Last February(08) I bought the V20 Logitech speakers for my Apple iBook laptop. I got them to work. Hadn't used them for about a year and had forgotten how to get the sound to emerge. I went to System Preferences. Clicked on Sound. I had plugged in the USB. Didn't show up. Unplugged it and plugged in again and there it was! I clicked on it and the sound came through immediately. So wait to plug in the speakers until you have opened Sound. (And Pandora (superb Internet radio station) is playing flawlessly.) I am not familiar with PCs. Sorry.
first you have to test separatly your speakers outputs
disconnect all wires speaker and speakers, turn on your reciever and look if you still have the same problem «CHECK SPEAKER WIRES alert» if yes you have to go to a specialist to fix it... if no test one line after one line with and without speaker connected until the problem reappear to locate the bad line or bad speaker.
The built-in speaker amp or the volume switch may be going bad on you. A quick test is to disconnect the speaker set and replace it with a headphone or another working speaker set. If it behaves normally then the problem is in your original speakers, if not then you may have software driver issues or less likely an issue with the sound card. Let us know what you find out.
i have the ame problem but I don't get that echoey sound you dicsribed.
