Where are the temperature controls on the Westinghouse Freezer Model FJ 383?
Right down the bottom, on the front of your freezer, you will see a red alarm light. Beside that is the thermostat temperature control knob. You might need a small coin to fit in the slot if you dont have a large flat head screwdriver to go into the groove to turn it in the direction you require (warmer/colder) it should have an arrow marked on it for the direction to turn also. The very bottom of the freezer, at the front, is the knob you require.
Westinghouse side by side refrigerator freezer WSE6070SF problem. Part in the middle (where doors meet) is getting extremely hot. Turned off its cooling down but heating up again when turned on.
the doors and side normally get hot due to different factors, FRIDGE COILS or door walls SEEM VERY HOT:
The condenser coils do get hot. They can even be to hot to comfortably touch and this is normal. The refrigerator should not run constantly but shut off with each defrost cycle. Running constantly and never cycling off can indicate a cooling problem. One thing to try is to wait till it has been running a few minutes then open the door and turn your cycling thermostat towards the off position. It should cycle off before getting to the off position on the dial. If it does not cycle off then it's not getting cold enough to satisfy the thermostat. This is likely the reason the refrigerator runs all the time. A thermometer in a glass of water can be used to check the temperatures in the refrigerator section. You can check that all fans are running. the reason the outer side of the door seal area is getting hot is the compressor is over heating, probably the condenser fan motor to your compressor is bad. It should be a little warm but not hot. they don't use heaters anymore ( some older models still use heaters) around the doors, instead they use the condenser coils to remove condensation and moister, you might want to check your condenser coils on the bottom or back of fridge to see if they need cleaning If the condenser coils/condenser fan are all plugged up they need cleaning and/or the condenser may fail or has failed.. The ones that use an electric heater will have an "energy saver" switch that will turn it off.: God is the reason I give you free advice so God is good!
Where is the light bulb location in my Westinghouse fridge
From the place where the light comes from :>)
depending on model which is not disclosed, older ones have a light socket just inside under the top cabinet edge. The are protected from damage, so use a mirror to look in that area. It is normally a 25 watt, SES cap Appliance Bulb.
In more moderm fridges, LED lighting has taken over. The whole unit has to be replaced because they are supposed to last 20 years. Some have LED strips at the door edge.
make model manual
make model change lightbulb.
Top half fridge not cold freezer department fine
I had the same problem; the top fridge compartment was warming up to 14C while the freezer compartment was starting to defrost (frozen stuff was starting to become soft. I took the rear wall off the freezer compartment and found it all iced up. I defrosted it with a blower heater then powered it back up. It all worked fine for a month when the same thing happened. I figured that the defrost cycle wasn't working. I located the defrost timer on the rear right-side of the fridge. I rotated it several times and found that the fridge was turning on and off. I rotated it until the fridge turned off. I waited 5 minutes then stuck my head into the freezer compartment and felt the rear wall at the bottom where he drain is; it felt warm so I guessed the defrost heater element was ok. I ordered a defrost timer and installed it. I haven't had a problem since.
