I also have a torn door boot. A repairman came

I also have a torn door boot. A repairman came out and said it was very labor intensive to replace and would cost $270?? Can an average person repair this on their own?? Where do I get a new part?

Replacing a front door hinge on a 1997 lincoln town car is it simple or is it labor intensive

It is labor intensive. I am in the process of doing one right now. First, the whole door must be removed and there's a lot of electrical in the drivers side front door. I ended up removing the door and pulling out the electrical harness (after disconnecting everything) enough that I could fold the door around and set it on the ground (on cardboard ). Then I attacked the Hinge. One bolt is easy to get to, the other is a ***** and it looks like the dash support may have to come out. Good luck.

Mechanic says i need new front axles......

Usually once the boot is torn, dirt goes in, and all of the lubricant goes out. If you have been driving it this way, it will damage things faster. Normally you hear a "click" when turning out of a bad cv joint. It is a safer solution to just replace both, but of coarse, not cheaper.

How many hours of labor will a dealer bill for replacing the flap door to the air conditioner? The Ford dealer said eight hours, which seemed ridiculous.

Tell them to show you the LABOR RATE MANUAL they are using to explain how many hours you will pay for job, multiply that by the LABOR RATE plus parts costs . Some jobs are labor intensive. Check it out. Hope this helps

When i turn left i hear a knocking sound from my steering and i also can feel it when im pressing on the brake

What year and how many miles on the Kia? I suspect your axle boot is torn. This is a rubber boot that goes around the axle to protect it from dirt, water, and crud it would be exposed to when driving. As the car ages, the rubber will crack and split, allowing road debris to enter the axle assembly. When this happens it isn't long before the axle must be replaced. If you can look under the car at the center of the front wheel, check the boot for damage, splits, cracks, etc. You may see a lot of grease in that area, another sign the rubber boot has been torn, and axle grease is leaking out and being spread around. Have it checked soon, as the other side is either about to go, of already is beginning to. I just replaced the axles in my 92 Honda w/ rebuilt axles for only $50 each, but there is a lot of labor involved in changing them, so it isn't a cheap fix. Let me know what you find in your inspection, but it does sound like a bad axle due to a torn boot. coountrycurt0

Door seal on GE Adora Washing Machine

After going through 2 different places that sent me the wrong part, I finally got the right boot seal today from Home Depot Appliances. I just gave them my model number and they overnighted the new boot seal to me, and for only $100. To call a GE repairman, it was going to cost $70 in the trip and $170 for the seal. Rip Off. We did it ourselves. Saved a lot of time and waiting.

Rubber door seal rip...

The rubber door boot (bellow) commonly wears out on these front loaders. A replacement will run you about $80 just for the bellow. Labor could run as high as $180 if you decide to hire someone to replace it for you. If you wish to perform the repairs yourself, post back with your intentions and I can provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to replace it. It is labor intensive as you will have to remove the entire washer front in order to do the job right. It IS possible, however, if you wish to pursue a repair option on your own. Just let me know.

PS I can also provide you with the part number if you reply with your washer model number (found along the door opening).
