Re: it can't read dvd disc, but if i'm using an mp3/cd...
Was this a burned dvd or a store bought one? Sounds like the laser that reads dvd is dirty, try to play another dvd and see what happens after cleaning.

If you cant play a real dvd in it, the laser is prob out of allignment or broken, if its just dvd that you burned, try changing disc type, there is +R and -R , also if that does not work try a different program to burn discs ? good program is convert X to dvd, not free, unless your good at torrents :)
Any format of disc the player accepts (according to the instruction manual - if you still have it), as well as those which your PC recognises. CD-R (as audio) will work, as will finalised DVD-R discs containing video.
CD-RW & CD-R discs - for mp3/jpeg files - use your PC and choose the appropriate burning software.
DVD-R discs - use either your PC and again choose the appropriate burning software, or a DVD recorder - you must finalise the discs in the recorder for compatible playback in players.
This may or may not help. If your PC is equipped with a CD/DVD drive, write the above-suggested discs in that.
I am sure that you have tried using another DVD.
Try putting a Music CD and see if it can read it.
In any case, even if the CD works, it looks that you have a faulty unit the laser on the drive is probably bad now but just in case it is just dirty, try to clean it with a Cleaning Disk and see if the problem disappear.
Unable to read a CD-R or other recordable disc.DVD recordable discs - If you have a DVD recordable disc and are unable to get it to read verify that the DVD drive is not a Gen 1 DVD drive and/or that it .
Computer DVD Support
The DVD technology is very different from the technology used in standard CD-ROM drives. DVD uses shorter wavelength lasers to read smaller pits and lands.
Some models of PIONEER cd players had radio frequency problems that caused them to work on and off. Are you near any radio or braodcast towers? Poorly shielded power supplies cause this as well. A weak laser diode in the pick-up assembly in model runs could be the problem. You might want to Google the model number and see if this is common for these units.
