Well you have to check first if its CD or Combo Drive or DVDRW. When you say CD its compact Disc drive meaning it can read CDR or CDRW data, audio and mp3, if its Combo Drive you can burn cd music, data or mp3 and you can play CD audio or VCD and at the same DVD music or video, If its DVDRW you can read/burn DVD music and video and also CD read/burning. Before choosing a right recordable disc you have to read or check your CD or DVD rom drive! Have a nice day!

You need to RIP the DVD-ROM by having it on your computer.

There are many different software to do this. Google "RIP DVD" to find some.

The DVD+R is the older version that was used, all newer ones use the DVD-R now, your problem is the disc is not recognized in the other players because of the different format.

After years of working fine my Sony 5-disc CD recorder has suddenly decided that every disc is a "data disc." The music blanks that have always worked in the past are now being read as "data disc" when I...

Mine was doing the same thing. I even posted the same question. Then after reading through other questions, I found that the discs I was using were CD-R that would only record on my PC. They are Data Discs. There is a different kind of CD-R and it is for music only and they are marked CD-R MUSIC. The little compact disc symbol on the package should read recordable underneath. I had not used mine in awhile and forgot to look for that on the package. Now mine works, Hope yours does too.

I have thinkpad T61 it was loaded with vista. It

what kind of media are you loading? is this a DVD or a program disc? If this is a DVD disc, try loading a music CD or other type of disc to see if it is recognized. If so, its possible your PC DVD is unable to recognize that specifc type of DVD. Try other DVD's which you know worked before using Vista. Even though your machine says the device is working properly, check the Lenovo website for updated drivers for the DVD and the board chipset. Let me know if updating the drivers does not work. Meanwhile, I'll see if I can find out any more information from Lenovo.
