Hi all, I have 3 LG DVD Players at home. They are the following. LG DVK-8721X Can play: DVD, VCD, SVCD, CD, mp3, wma, and DivX Bought: during 2005 Features: Progresive Scan LG DVK-8944X Can play: DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, VCD, SVCD, CD, mp3, wma, and DivX Features: 24 bit audio, 5.1 channel sound, Progresive Scan Bought: during 2005 LG DC-8814M Can play: DVD, VCD, SVCD, CD, mp3, wma, and DivX Bought: during 2006 Features: Progresive Scan I believe this models are sold in South America only, I can't find references from somewhere else. I live in Bolivia. Now here is the problem. They all work lovely but sometimes they refuse to read discs. First, DVK-8721X stoped working for a while. At firs it started to show some gaps when playing the end of some discs. After a while, it refused to read everything. We stopped using it for some time, a month more or less. During that time, the unit kept refusing most discs and playing a few badly. For some reason not using the unit for a while caused de player to fix itself. But then LG DVK-8944X started to show something similar. About two months ago it couldn't read anything, not DVD nor CD. I stopped using it for some time. One day I moved it to another place and magically it started working again!!! Now my third DVD player + VHS combo is starting to have some trouble reading the end of some discs. LG DVK-8944X refuses to read discs randomly again. Sometimes it reads a disc and all of a sudden, when you want to play the same disc, it wiil refuse it and any disc you try after. Sometimes LG DC-8814M can read de last part of discs, especially when you have seen the entire disc whithout skipping any part. That is obviously anoying. I tried cleaning the lens inside with very discrete results. For example, cleaning the lens of DVK-8944X will cause discs to be recognoized and not rejected, but the player will have awfull trouble reading it anyway. Will I have to wait some time for this things to magically fix themselves? Is there another suggestion besides "stop buying LG perhaps? Thanks in advance DAN
I love lg my house is lg

Some models of PIONEER cd players had radio frequency problems that caused them to work on and off. Are you near any radio or braodcast towers? Poorly shielded power supplies cause this as well. A weak laser diode in the pick-up assembly in model runs could be the problem. You might want to Google the model number and see if this is common for these units.
