Video wo'nt play on XP

To play any media on PC needs codec to support it. If you are playing video on Windows Media Player, go to Tools - Options - then in opened dialogue of options go to DVD - Advanced . Here (Properties dialogue) you will find the supported codecs for different media. If the video file you are playing is not mentioned then the video won't play. So download the required codec to support the video file. A better option is install PowerDVD software which plays almost every video file. Download the old version software from the following link.
http://www.oldversion.com/download-PowerDVD-7.html
Name: Deluxe
Serial Key of Power dvd 7:
7GP2X-RWAWT-QMEQA-6EZ9U-GE356-W3VQD

Also install real player.

I've installed cyberlink powerdvd 10 ultra version in my laptop, but when i'm playing a dvd there is no audio. Do i have to install an audio codec? can you bsuggest me one. thank you.

Hey hi. Cyberlink powerDVD will play all the dvds. But you just try playing the same dvd in other players like VLC media player and Media Player Classic. These are the two players available in the market which will play audio and video of all extensions. So just try playing the dvd with this. Still you cannot able to get the audio means, there might be the problem in the disc also. So go for another dvd and try playing it. This is how we need to sought out the problems.

How come I can't play a video with AVCHD format on my laptop? My laptop is an HP Pavillion DV7

Each of the AVCHD camcorders ships with software designed to playback the files on your computer. Sony's HDR-SR1 and the newer HDR-SR5 both record video in the AVCHD format and ship with the Picture Motion Browser, which plays back AVCHD files on most computers. If you purchased one of the Panasonic AVCHD camcorders, the included HD Writer should allow you to playback video recorded with your camcorder.

While the bundled applications work, my personal preference, is Cyberlink PowerDVD Ultra, which supports playback of the AVCHD files and a whole host of other high definition formats. In addition to playing back your HD camcorder files, PowerDVD Ultra plays back Blu-ray and HD-DVD disks (with the accompanying drives connected, of course). PowerDVD Ultra also makes it possible to expand your HD video editing options, by using the included codecs to render the AVCHD video in apps like VirtualDub.

Cyberlink PowerDVD ultra can be downloaded from here :

I did a reinstalation with the compaq instalation disc, there were 8,after that when i try to watch a video on either Real Player/Windows media player of winn the video moves like a robot start and stop and...

Windows XP does not natively have software to decode DVD video (thus the garbled video). You need to install a third-party DVD codec. Typically with Compaqs it came with PowerDVD or WinDVD that, once installed, allows you to view DVDs using their viewer or even media player.

Look through your CDs that came with your PC and see if there is one for WinDVD or PowerDVD and install it. Sometimes it will be on a CD labelled drivers or additional software.

Hope this helps,

Cyberlink DVD Error 80040216 error code

I was having this error for a long time, trying to figure out.
In my search, I had found:
It seems to be an issue with SP3.
someone mentioned they could go in and play the .vob file but that was it..
uninstalling and reinstalling does not work
changing hardware acceleration does not work.
I long since gave up on the search, even later changed my hard drive (yes even on new HD it was giving this error), but my windows media player kept giving me a copyright protection code error, and one of the fixes was to reinstall my video driver. Or install a decoder (seems to mean the only way windows media will play movies is if you have other dvd software installed - this way it can read from it).
So I:
*upgraded my video driver. I have a HP Nc6000 ATI mobility radeon 32mb card.
*also had bought a dvdrw drive so I put that one in
*was told by windows media I had to change my region the dvd player itself was set on region 2
Retried windows media - still again got the copyright code error, decided wth Ill try loading powerdvd again AND IT STARTED
So I dont know which one of the 3 above resolved the issue for PowerDVD, and hopefully it wont come back.
Still working on windows media LOL but I know so many had issues with PowerDVD I wanted to suggest these potential fixes.
