My hp pavilion a305w will not let me play dvds

First of all you'll need a DVD-Rom Player. If you go to my computer and you see the drives you have. Drive C and

DVD-Rom station or CD-rom Station.
If it's not listed you don't have a DVD-rom player and you can never play dvd's unless you work with images and image drive software like daemon tools or alcohol 120%.

If you do have a DVD-rom player you can play dvd's with Cyberlink Powerdvd or BS-player. Even with Windows Media Player.

It depends on the operating system you have.

Hope this was helpfull. If questions i am happy to answer.
