I have an Amana Refrig. Model BC120TL, freezer on the bottom about 12 years old. I have noticed a strange noise the last few days/ maybe a week now. I have narrowed it down to the ice maker. It was making a girggling sound. Lasted about 10 minutes, then would stop. Start again a few hours later. continued on. I putzed with the ice maker, emptied all the ice out to start with a clean ice tray. Waited a day and noticed it wasn't making ice. I putzed with the metal arm, up down, up down a few times and nothing. So I called for a service call. He is coming out on Monday. Got up this morning and now have ice and have noticed that the noise has not happened again. Don't seem right?? Thoughts?
SOURCE: refrigerator compartment not cooling
If you are sure the fan in the freezer is running and you don't feel any air flow out of the top middle vent inside the fridge section, then the damper motor must be bad. The damper motor is behind that vent cover inside the fridge section.

I had the same issue. It was the relay overload which essentially provides the extra boost to get the compressor going. The switch tries for about 10 seconds before giving up and then retries 3 - 4 minutes later. In the early stages of failure, eventually it will work and the compressor will kick on. But eventually the switch will fail and will just cycle through the 10 second attempt every 3 to 4 minutes. The part is about $35 - part number 67005560.
SOURCE: buzzing sound for about 2 months
My refirgerator (ABD2533DEB) has been doing the same thing -- buzzing off and on for several weeks. My local repair man was just here and he checked/tried the relay and was not sucessful and now I am waiting for 48 more hours to have the Amana repairman come. My local repair man was very nice and did not charge me and he told me he was pretty sure it was the compressor and to have the Amana repair man to just go ahead and bring a compressor with him. I think he has seen this problem before :). Hopefully fixed on Thursday.
SOURCE: Have Amana refrig with bottom
See the post by lola77 with the same complaint. We have an Amana top/bottom freezer and are having the same problem and we've only had it 4 1/2 years. First service call available that the 1-800 number gave me was 3 days from now, which is ridiculous.

as long as the temp in the frz is normal. the i/m could have a bad thermostat that, could be causing it cycling too soon or the tray is leaking water. either way i/m needs to be replaced, sorry
