is the printer set up for copying? the only way you can find that out is to look at
your owners mannual. it should tell you if it's set up for copying.

This means the machine is over-toning ie using more toner than required caused by either improper toner or different brand of toner. The correct toner is sf 222T1. Replace developer and use the right toner and clean the drum and its blade. You may need to clean fuser rollers for cleaner copies.

It is important to distiguish light COPY from a light received fax. If you are making a COPY and it comes out light but your received faxes are ok the your scanner is dirty and needs to be cleaned. If this is the case then remember that your outgoing faxes are being sent out light as well. If your incoming faxes are light then your laser unit needs to be cleaned. If you can find someone local to service it then a proper charge is somewhere i the $75 range.

please your copyer couver is open and out of you in rcartriese out of copyer and clean air compres and check the fuzer light and punch roller and dram roller is also is currentluy ok and aply paper and start copyer.

Good luck finding the separate developer units for this obsolete machine if you don't already have them.
If your just looking for color toner you may get lucky doing an internet search for the following item number: 8916361 - BLUE TONER

You probably have some thing in the developer unit, if you take out the developer and check the bag roller and brush, if you slowly turn the dev unit you might see a void area that is being passed onto the drum.
If the developer has a large numbers of copies on it then dump the developer and replace the starter.
Make sure the developer get thoroughly cleaned especially behind the blade.

If the developer is not all that old, then lift the blade off and clean the backside of the blade, and the area or areas of the brush that have the void.

If you were stretching the toner cartridge, you may have depleted the toner in the machine, if your machine has a toner button on the control panel, press it and let it run its course, if it doesn't try running a few blank copies and see if this helps. The machine only adds a little each copy, if it is depleted, it will take some time to catch up as there is toner being used on each copy, but blank copies don't use toner but the machine will add at its preset level.

Failing this it may very well need a spring clean up.

A J3 means the toner cartridge is not compatible. That is the what the J3 message means.
Make sure the correct cartridge has been installed. For example, a Pro16 Toner Cartridge looks very similar and will fit in the machine, but it will display a J3 fault. Install a known correct Toner Cartridge if you suspect the cartridge in the machine is the problem. If the wrong Toner Cartridge has been used, the correct cartridge needs to be ordered and installed in the machine
It is possible the chip on the back of the cartridge is bad. Have you tried reseating the cartridge? Maybe it is just loose.

the problem in your machine is on the drum unit there is a arching on the mc unit.located in the upper portion of the drum unit.if you have an old drum unit try to install it again just for testing.and check if ther is a dumping toner again.

Image density sensor is dirty. Usually caused by toner being dumped on it.

You will have to call a tech to see if the sensor is broken, dirty. It requires removal of the drum and inspection of the sensor.
