SOURCE: stop after 5 seconds

In most cases, this is a problem with the inverter or a bad magnetron.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

I would recommend that you contact your nearest Panasonic-authorized servicer. You can find one here.

SOURCE: microwave shutts off after 2 seconds/

See if this describes what's happening:

  • Put in time, push start and unit runs for 2 seconds, relay clicks, unit goes off. Cook time on display goes off and clock time comes back. Bad upper interlock switch and charred connector
If so, see
http://207.234.249.73/mwd/safety.txt
http://207.234.249.73/mwd/disassembly.txt
http://207.234.249.73/mwd/doorsw.txt

Otherwise, if the digital programmer circuit / controller does not get a feedback signal from the inverter for a period of 3 seconds, the controller will stop the cook cycle.

It may be a loose connection in the wiring between the inverter, magnetron, and/or control board, or maybe one of those components has failed.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced in inverters, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

Microwave starts and stops in 2 second intervals

The microwave sounds like it has keypad control problem, behind the pad is the micro-controller board which controls vital areas of the oven, it needs to be checked out.

Kenmore microwave (2 y/o) will stop soon after you hit start.

A quick test. Switch off power then remove outer cover. Look for the transformer. remove the two wires connected to the primary side. Note, do not toutch anything else. power still sitting on the cap. With those two thin wires disconnected, make sure they are not toutching each other or leaning on the metal frame. Set a program that has been a problem and let it run. If it still stops and does what its not supposed to do, your board needs replacement.

The microwave starts, then stops 2 seconds later

I tried a solution posted on another posting http://www.fixya.com/support/t242480-stops_cooking by placing the conductive plastic behind the control panel and it worked.

No heat

Did you spray cleaner directly on the control panel? Do you get any error codes in the display? The most common causes of a no heat condition are a bad door switch; door switch mount; bad connection on the control board or magnetron; bad magnetron, bad inverter. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info (as well as a text file which helps in diagnosing and repairing door switch problems) at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk Feel free to contact me directly if you have further questions.
