Our fridgidaire gallery dryer squeals very loud for about the first 5 minutes of being on then quietly finishes it's job. It does this with each new load.

You could have a belt that is slipping on the heavy load of clothes when you first start the dryer, if so you may need to replace your belt.
Your problem sounds like drum rollers is in need of lubrication.
If you have a front loading machine, Unplug the dryer, remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum and belt, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers.
Check your rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them replace them.
If they don't then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem.
Good Luck,
I hope this helps

Do I need to buy new dryer or is it fixable with minimal charge?

It is a Gas Dryer, so it can only be worked on by a qualified gas service engineer. Easy to fix Miss Carroll, it is a slipping belt or a dry drum bearing.

Tell them make and model and that it is squealing. They should bring the parts to fix in one visit.

Why does my Estate dryer sqeek or squeal so loud

I just had a similar problem with my Whirlpool dryer. It would squeek very loudly and then chirp a bit and then go quiet.
Took the back off and found that the belt tensioner arm pulley that drives the drum turning had stopped spinning. Sprayed some silicone on the hub a couple of times and it freed up and is working again. Everything is fine for now. I'm going to order a new part 'cause I know it will just happen again when the silicone wears out.

Loud squealing belt. belt dresssing not helping

Using anti-squeak compound can't solve the problem. It may be quiet for a while but soon starts rattling and after suddenly broke. The only solution is to replace the serpentine belt with a new one.
You can do it in 5 minutes. Depress the belt tensioner using a 3/8-inch ratchet and socket drive, remove the old belt and install the new one. Before removing the old one make sure to have handy the belt diagram.

Loud squealing sound when the basket first spins up this is a Kenmore stacked set, washer on the bottom, and dryer on top

Your problem could be a bad bearing...The drum rides in a bearing at the rear middle of unit..Its basically a plastic insert...When the dryer is first started the bearing will squeal until the plastic warms up..Normally you will hear the squeal at the back middle of dryer...Your problem may also be the belt tensioner...Again a plastic wheel with a metal bearing inside...Normally this squeal will be from start to finish..

My Maytaag dryer has a loud intermittent squeal. It will often work for 10-15 minutes with a quiet squieak or no noise, then the loud squeak starts up. I can turn the dryer off, but the squeal immidately...

I think the drum drive belt is slipping because it occurs more with a large load. Other possibilities are: A drum support wheel bearing could need lubrication or be replaced. Also some drum support wheels have a rubber coating that wears off causing misalignment and noise. Possibly drum gasket (sometimes felt material) where drum meets rear panel is worn allowing metal-to-metal contact--should be replaced. My DAV-FC7 System squeals loudly.

If you can, use the digital optical connection....I had the same problem and switched to the digital optical connection and that worked for me....no more whine.

From the sounds of things, you are talking about a front loading dryer. The agitators in the dryer can get coins stuck inside them. Remove the top and rotate the drum to reveal the screws which hold the agitators to the drum. Remove the screws and the agitators, empty the coins or other debris and reinstall.

The loud squeal sounds like the pad under the open side of the drum is worn out. There may also be a dry main bearing in the rear of the dryer. Lubricate the bearing and reinstall the drum. The squeal should disappear.

If this is not a dryer or a front loading washer, none of these suggestions will apply, Sorry
