A faulty lid switch will do that(assuming it agitates. If not agitating then the motor coupler is the next suspect.

Is your washer agitating at all? If not then you will more than likely need a direct drive coupler. It links the motor to the transmission and turns your agitator, both to agitate and produce a spin cycle. the part number is 285753 and is around $22.00. It is a wearable part and can easily be replaced by a technician. This can happen more often if you overload your washer with heavy or large loads.Hope this helps

Thanks

Is some water in the tub of a top loading washer normal?

It is normal to have residual water in the drain lines and pump following a wash cycle. This is the low point of the drain cycle and gravity will ALWAYS cause some water to be there. As long as the water is not visible in the spin basket, you have nothing to worry about.

Some model washers also have a balance ring around the perimeter on top of the wash tub that is filled with fluid. This acts as a stabilizer to help keep the washer balanced during the spin cycle. If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this is helpful to you.

Washer fills with water then stops, will not spin or drain water. There doesn't appear to be a plumbing issue.

if it's running (making noise) but not moving it's the coupling between the motor and trans$13.00 part if it is just sitting there quiet it's probly the lid switch is broken this only applies to top loaders

WHDRR418G1WW WASHER WON'T AGITATE OR SPIN, NOT MAKING NOISES. FILLS AND DRAINS FINE.

sounds like you have a broken lid switch on the washer, maybe someone slammed the door or placed or stood on top of the washer, a broken lid switch won't allow washer to go into spin mode is a safety device so if is on spin cycle an someone sticks their hand it the machine stops an not breaks your hand.

broken lid swtich

good luck leave some feedback thanks!
