The cartridge is absolutely the culprit. Very good shower valve, however the cartridges do go. Shut the water, take the handle off, disassemble the face plate, remove chrome collar from body, remove retention split spring, pull cartridge itself straight out. Replace new cartridge in reverse order of removal. Cartridge can be found at home depot, or any plumbing supply store. Good Luck,
Steven

When i move shower valve to hot, the water pressure drops. There is more cold water than hot. I have changed my moen valve before and this still happens. Good water any where else in the house including...

probably have a kink on how water line feeding valve..if possible to cut drywall bhind tub valve and inspect pipe at bottom plate...moen faucets are equipped w/ anti scald device, pressure balanced (newer models) and this could cause cold water to overwhelm hot water...

Moen Extensa faucet leaking from the bottom. have already replaced water lines and they are fine . The leak is coming out the bottom of the faucet itself.

check all solder, threaded, joint's.i'm pretty sure that model has shut off's to the left and right of center.check those as well.water will travel in some strange way's,yes alway's down but it will follow some strange path's. p.s.take a look /check your shower arm.

The moen began to leak over time now i cant turn the water for

Call moen and give them your model no. they will send you a new cartridge free of charge. if you can't wait local stores like lowes will have them. Turn off your main water shut off valve and take off handle, then with some pliers take off brass ring, the cartridge will pull out. First notice the notch it rests in and notice where the hot water adjustment disc is. Assemble the new one the same way, put some vasolene on orings and reassemble. hope this helps.

Stem Valve is frozen on my 3175 Legend.

Here is a possible solution for you. First go out and buy a Moen cartridge puller tool like this:

5b0f4de.jpg

Next follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the water to the valve.
  2. Install puller and rotate cartridge several times.
  3. Gently pull on cartridge while slowly turning.
This should work. If the center of the valve pulls out continue below with these suggestions:

  1. Remove center piece from tool.
  2. Place the brass feral to the end of the tool as shown.
  3. Insert this part of the tool into the valve all the way as far as it can go.
  4. Turn the tool until you hear a click or tool feels like it turns the valve.
  5. Pull on the tool gently while turning.
This should get the job done.

Also here is some information for you about your valve:

Hope this helps and please rate this suggestion.

Hot water dribbles thru shower head when turned to hot

Replacing the cartridge should solve the problem, the balancing spool is stuck, replacing it will solve the problem. The valve should look like this http://www.moen.ca/shared/pdf/3170pt.pdf . I have unstuck the spools in the past, soaking it in white vinegar will help to remove build up.
