The tapes are dictated at a 2.4 speed setting but when I play them back on the T1000 it sounds like Mickey Mouse. If I turn to 1.2 it is ridiculously slow... This happened once before but fixed itself.. Help!!! Its hard to do dictation this way...

This could be the tape dragging or a problem with the device you are recording with. Based on what you posted I assume you record on one device and play it back on this T1000. If the device used to record is battery operated it could be a battery problem, or a tape drive motor problem. Try playing tapes made with other devices in this T1000. If they work then the problem is not this device. If the problem persist then try cleaning the T1000 and make a tape with it and try playing it back in another device. If the tapes you make with this play funny then you have a bad drive motor or belt, I would look at the drive motor, if they play good then start looking at possible tape drag or a need for cleaning.

Dance star mickey

I just had this same problem. Micky danced and moved his mouth but no sound. I opened up Mickey's outfit at the back of the neck up to the top of his head and found a broken wire. I spliced the wire back together and Mickey works again! The 2 wires go from the back center of Mickey's head to the top of his left shoulder. Hope this helps someone else!

When i put a tape in to transcribe it sounds garbled. Do you think it could use a cleaning?

1. Try to change the tape speed on your machine. Sometimes that will fix it.

2. Maybe the tape is just old (has been dictated on too many times) and in that case, have the person dictate on new tapes and discard the old ones. They dont last forever.

Hope I could help!

When boss dictates a letter I can barely hear any sound!

The tape might be getting old, replace it and see what happens.  If it is still acting up, It might be he is not recording properly or the recorder is bad.  Try talking directly into the mic and see if it is better.  If it is, he needs to talk louder or needs to hold it close.
