Some recievers do have a detection device that will overide the system if something is plugged in the same inlet .
what i mean by that is that if you have already a system plugged in at the back on V AUX 2 at the back , it will automatically override the front input .
try to disconnect the back input and try the front on its own and let me know how you go .

Tell the difference between the Aux input and V-Aux input

'Aux' is a general label for any Line Level analog stereo input like DVD, VCR, TV, DBS, etc. They are usually electrically identical and interchangeable except for PHONO.

V-Aux on this unit is on the front panel for conveniently connecting a video device. It has analog and assignable digital audio plus S-video and composite video.

There is nothing labeled 'Aux' on this unit.

My htr-6090 wont let my dock be on zone2

Zone 2 will only work with an analog signal (RCA) If you use a stereo mini to rca adapter from the ipods headset jack and plug it into the VAux on the front of the receiver it will work. Downside to this is the audio is "dual controlled" Volume from the iPod and Volume from the Receiver. Set the volume no further than 70-75% on the iPod then adjust to taste with Zone 2. Hope this helps

I can not select input source, even though AV1 is connected. Pressing INPUT button has no effect. All I can see is ''Not connected to the camcorder'', which is true - but I want to record from AV1.

Press INPUT repeatedly to select the external input
to record from.
AV1: Audio/Video Input mounted on back panel.
AV2: Audio/Video Input mounted on front panel.
DV: DV Input mounted on front panel.
DV IN jack.
This recorder is only compatible with DV-format
(DVC-SD, DV25) camcorders. Digital satellite tuners
and Digital video recorders are not compatible.
Make sure your cables are connected correctly, if an audio cable is plugged into the video the unit wont see it.

Denon 587 v-aux no video but has sound

try another another source that you know works on the vaux to make sure the input is good. you can try plugging your camera into a diff input or directly to your tv. also make sure to take off the lens cap when you make a video.
