Mitsubishi 55" rear projection TV, wouldn't turn off
Wouldn't turn off with remote or at set. Also couldn't change volume. Unplugged set, now it won't turn on. Reset button produces flashing green light on panel, but still won't power on.

Um . that model doesn't have a reset button . but if no lights on front of the set even blink when you press the power button on the front or on the remote .then suspect front panel buttons ,with that model.

did you try new batteries in the remote? if the tv has buttons on the side and one of them being power di you try to push that? did you push tv power or cable power holding the buttons longer? those things might work.
When it shuts off and the green power light goes off, press both the menu and input buttons on the front of the set (not the remote) and hold both for about five seconds and release.
Power light will blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks and then 3 blinks and repeat it several times.
The remote is not the problem. The switch for volume up on the control panel has become leaky. Very common problem for this generation Mitsubishi. If you don't mind not having the control panel working you can disconnect it and the set will work just fine with the remote. To disconnect the control panel pull the speaker grill, it just snaps off, and remove the front access panel. Once that is done you'll see a cable going to the switches just disconnect it.
Its definitely not the CRTs. More likely a problem in your deflection circuit Horizontal or vertical. Could be the vertical output as well. your not getting deflection if you don't have any menu or channel indicator. How are your trouble shooting and soldering skills?Let me know if I can help you further.
Take out the batteries or simply reprogram the remote by using the manual search function on the remote. There is probably a couple of different settings in the remote for this type of TV set, Good Luck
