My wife's laptop was connected to the network as were several other computers without a problem, however her office changed some settings and in the process wiped her C: drive. Now we are unable to connect her laptop to our network after trying several ways of doing so. The last time I was just able to add her using the memeory stick but that now does not work and her office IT stated they do not support that option.

Does the laptop have a wireless adapter. If so, go to network connections in the Control Panel and enable the adapter, Then click on "View wireless networks" click connect and type in the the security key if there is one.

How to I set up my dell laptop in my house to print wirelessly from a canon mp780 printer?

Basicallyif you have a wireless router with several laptops and desktop PCs, which canaccess the Internet at the same time, then you have working network withthe laptop and PC.First makesure the laptop and PC have the same Workgroup name(it may already have Workgroup as the Workgroup name, you can change it if you wish). To changethe Workgroup name open Control Panel - System -click on Computer Name tab - click Change and you can change the Computername then select Workgroup and enter orchange the Workgroup name - click OK and OKagain.Nextenable Sharing on both the PC and laptop open My Computer - right click onthe C Drive - click on Sharing tab - tick Sharing this folder on thenetwork - add a Share name to identify the computer/folder (eg Cdrive on PC).If you donot enable sharing on the drives or folders then they will not be available tothe computers on the network. If you havemore drives, then repeat this for the other hard drive and or CD or DVDdrives.Re-boot thecomputers and you will be able to see the computers on your network through MyNetwork Places.

I'm running Windows Vista Business with a Belkin PlugNPlay router as host. My wife's networked computer is running Windows 7. In my network/sharing center I'm unable to change the network from public to...

Running the risk of a thick ear from the wife, I would dismantle and uninstall the network. Reboot your computer and set it up again then add your wifes computer without letting 7 change the settings.

Motorola SBG900 Assign network address to computer

I guess your modem router was already configured well since it worked already previously. It seems that your motorola router is set to broadcast dynamic IPs (DHCP enabled) and your last connected Pc and laptop were configured with static IP. Please check your "network connection" setting and make sure it is set to "Obtain IP automatically"

How to wirelessly access HP Laserjet 1320n via Apple iBook

You need to disconnect the USB cable and set it up wireless on both units:
Since it is plugged into the router, it should already have an IP address.
Un-install the printer from the computers.
Then re-install the printer from the cd or from HP's website. When you get to the point where it ask you is the printer is attached to the computer or is it over the network. Choose over the net work and the software will find the printer IP and finish setting it up wireless.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Unable to connect my wifi laptop to my existing wireless b/band

Your wife's laptop is setup to connect to another wireless network. It must be set up now for the wireless network that you are trying to connect to. This means that your wife's laptop is trying to connect to the wireless network somewhere else. You need to let the laptop look for available wireless networks. It should be able to see your wireless network. It will then require you to enter the password that you have set in your Zyxel. If you don't know the password, call Zyxel.

My wife brings home, her works toshiba laptop ,but i can,t browse internet on it,,do i need to add something to achive this, thank you, dave.

since it is a work laptop, there is a possibility that the connection it recognizes is configured for work connection only.
you may try to set another "Default" connection on your "network connection" or install a pocket application (i used to do this on my work laptop) like pocket "mozilla" so that the browser settings are configurable.

here is what you do provided that you have a broadband connection:

for the network connection...
1.click start>settings>control panel
2.click network and internet > network connections
3.look for a connection icon that has a check mark on it, right click it then click on "canel as default connection"

you will need to change this back to default settings once you're done since your wife may not be able to use her laptop at work.

if you cannot install another application on the laptop try these:

1.open internet explorer
2.click tools> internet options>connections
3.on this window make sure the option saying "never dial a connection is clicked" if not, then click it, hit apply
4.once the wondow is good click on "LAN settings" button, on the window that will appear make sure no option is CHECKED, if you have some, uncheck them.

do make sure that you change this back also to how you found it once your done, because these settings may not apply to the settings of your wife for her office.

good luck!!!

COMPAC LAPTOPS

  1. turn on the computer that has the printer attached.
  2. configure computer to share (start/settings/printer-faxes/right click on default printer/select sharing tab/ select share this printer/ apply settings/OK)(This computer must also be connected to the router so your laptop will see it as a network device)
  3. on wireless laptop, add printer
  4. when prompted select network printer.

For my wifes ease of use I purchased for $20.00 network magic which auto configured all my devices and monitored any access to my wireless router so I could choose who could access my open router.

Xbox live on this laptop

I assume you have a crossover ethernet cable.
put the my network places on your desktop.
right click on desktop/properties/desktop/customize desktop/tic
then on the network places icon on desktop right click/properties
right click on wireless and bridge devices
they are now sharing the same ip
be sure and remove /delete bridge when not sharing as the ip will stick forever likely.
that should do it if you need more info /open my computer and hit help and search for internet connection sharing as the firewall may need to be configured.
