Why does my 6 disc cd changer start a cd then stop completely playing after 3-4 seconds

try disconnecting battery for 10 mins and after reconnecting battery hit eject on changer and remove that cd

Try cleaning the laser lens.

If a disc has been put in the slot of the disc in play, Remove the disc, whose number is displayed, and press stop button.
Because of light or noise, the changer has detected a disc in the lot of the disc being played, even though it is empty. Check whether there is a disc in the displayed slot. With front panel closed, hold down "STOP " button for atl least four seconds or more.

Condition
Some customers may comment on any of the following conditions:
• The CD loaded in the radio will not play.
• The CD loaded in the radio will not eject.
• The disc icon on the radio will not illuminate.
• The radio displays an "INITIALIZING" message for approximately 30 seconds after vehicle start up.
Important: Do not attempt to play CDs with paper labels on them in this CD player. The labels may warp or wrinkle and jam the CD player mechanism. Refer to the Compact Disc Care and Cleaning procedure (Document ID# 1656123) in SI for more information.
Technicians are to reprogram the radio with new operating software using the following procedure:
1. If the radio has a CD(s)2008 General will be necessary to reset the radio and remove them
before the radio is reprogrammed. Remove and reinstall the radio fuse to reset the radio and then eject the CD(s). If cycling the power to the radio does not allow the CD(s) to be removed, the radio may have another failure that will not be corrected by the reprogramming procedure that follows. Refer to the Diagnostic Starting Point - Entertainment procedure in SI to begin your diagnosis of this failure to eject CDs concern before reprogramming the radio.
2. Reprogram the radio using the Service Programming System (SPS) with the latest software available on TIS2WEB. Refer to the SPS procedures and the Radio Programming and Set procedure in SI for more information. As always make sure your Tech 2® is updated with the latest software version.
3. Verify proper operation of the radio and make sure that all CDs can be ejected.

All players need cleaned from time totime. Do NOT try to clean it with anything other than a CD / DVD lens cleaner. They are available almost everywhere that sellsBlank media. It will clean the lens without scratching or smearing it.

I had the same problem with my 2007 Equinox, 6 cd changer. I changed the oil, disconnected the battery as recommended. When I reconnected the battery, the single cd wouldn't come out. It was out of warranty so I ordered a complete new cd player from ebay, I installed it, spent the $120 for the dealer to unlock it, just to find out....It won't let me load any cd's. Every time I hit load, it appears as if it is gonna load, but the motor inside never activates. Let me know if you find the solution to your problem.

make sure your alltanator is chargeing from the battery,how you can do that start the car open the hood and take one of the batter cable if the car still run,that means the alltanator is good,if the can turn off when you take the

I had the same problem i just decided to pull the whole thing out and get a new radio and single disc cd changer put in and so far it works fine.
