Hi,
When you are at business, you are probably accessing the network locally.
When you reach home, you are accessing it via internet.
What you need to do is to set up the router to direct the incoming requests to the dvr ip address. It is called creating a virtual server.
You may want to subscribe to a DDNS service if your ip keeps changing. Businesses normally have a static ip but not if you have a normal dsl connection.

Hi Norwood Barnhouse, Have you heard of ip port forwarding through routers ?
I suspect your issue may be cause by a lack of port forwarding.
Outside internet IP address >>> port forward >>> inside ip address of camera.
Can you please add details in the comment box?
Thank you for responding. The system I am trying to setup is in a rural vacation home, and I have had to leave it for now. I will return in a month or so and begin trouble shooting then, hopefully with your help. Thanks again until then.
what is the make and model number of router or if no router the modem device used for internet connection.
you need to most likely log into the router.
go to dos prompt on a computer and type in ipconfig/all press enter key
note the default gateway ip address
put this into internet browser URL address
and it should try to log in to the router
Hopefully password is on router or is the default password for this make and model number.
