I turned on my playstation three, you can hear the audio but there is no picture. is this a known problem? is there a fix?

First, how are you connecting? RCA jacks(red yellow white cords) or HDMI? If it's the RCA cords, they were known to develope shorts in the yellow cord that connects to your TV. Just try another cord. They are very cheap, and the cords from all of the other Playstations will work for the PS3. Second, try to do a picture reset on your system. Sometimes, going from HDMI, back to the RCA confuses the system because the RCA connections are NOT detected automatically, HDMI is. To do a picture reset, turn the system on, then push the power button once,(you'll hear a beep) then push and hold the power button until the system shuts off.(you should hear 2 beeps) Then when you turn the system back on, the picture will be reset. ^^ Good luck, and I hope this helps.

Try this use your vacuum to suck out any dust that is in machine from front and back. Use compressed air (duster used on electronics) and spray the cd area and back area again, vacuum out. If this doesn\'t help then Call Sony PlayStation for replacement of machine.

If you have called and discussed this with Sharp to see if known issue then have a repair center look at the set (authorized sharp repair).

If you have a "slim" ps3, it does not beep 3 times. Try this.
First, with the system off,plug in your old red, white, yellow cables into the tv. (make sure your tv is on the correct setting). Now, just turn on the ps3 the regular way. Did you hear the sounds it normally makes when booting up (the ps3 boot music?). If so, thats good. If you did not, check again that the tv is on the right channel, and if possible, try another set of red, white, yellow cables.

If you heard sound, but do not get a picture, turn the ps3 back off. After the red light comes on, hold your finger down on the power button for about 5 seconds. If you have a fat ps3, it will beep 3 times after a few seconds to get back to regular tv mode. If you have a slim ps3, it will beep once, then 1 more time a few seconds later. It should reset and turn back on. If your tv is on the right channel and the cables work, then you should now see a picture and you know your audio/video is working. You can now try your HDMI cable and it should prompt you to use the HDMI at this point.

you have what is known as the red screen of death. you may be able to easily fix this by turning off the system from the switch in the back then turn it on from the back you will then see the light in the front is red. push and HOLD the power button until you hear three beeps in a row then a menu with 6 options should come up choose the third one. you will then need to hook up a controller with the usb cable and press x. you may have to repeat this several times but it has worked for people Good luck

Disconnect it from your T.V and PS3. Make sure your T.V. is powered on.

Your display needs to be reset, Turn the ps3 off. Then turn the ps3 back on but continue to press the power button until you hear the beeps then it should work fine :)

How do you have the PS3 hooked to your tv?

The three inputs will all carry picture and sound. You then will definitely picture out to the TV but sometimes, depending on the manufacturer, no audio because it is assumed the the AV receiver will handle all of the audio duties therefore no need for audio at the TV.

My GE 32 inch won't come on, when you turn it on you can hear click two to three times then it comes off.
