For a normal tv this is certainly not worth fixing. But given that there are few televisions now with built in full Dolby 5.1 Prologic and three Scarts then it's worth looking into.

My 28W8DB failed last year when the CRT tube developed a fault; normally the repair would be uneconomic as the spare part is no longer available but there have been so many perfectly good 28" widescreen tv's scrapped in favour of plasma/LCD models that it was easy to find a replacement tube and to fit it. I got the donor tv quickly from my local FreeCycle group.

28W8DB's are relatively scarce, but 28w8 (virtual Dolby) and 28w93's are not and much of the internal circuitry is the same as well if you need to replace a board. In the end, I subsequently fitted mine with a superior tube from a Phillips model which came my way after the the first replacement as the 28w93 tube was just way too soft. (Philips and Toshiba often supplied tubes to each other and the practice is common with other major manufacturers as well).

BTW: your tv is going into protection mode. It's probably overheating due to a failed component or simply due to being choked with dust which all CRT tv's attract. To avoid a potential fire you must ensure that you get this repaired before you use it again and certainly never leave it unattended on standby.

My toshiba tv cz36t31 screen is green and it turns off by itself

Your TV has 3 possible cause for problem described above.First could be RGB output (ussualy there is chip soldered on CRT pcb that amplifying each signal Red Green Blue to your picture tube) that is part of circuits inside the TV ,and second case could be picture tube by itself.Picture tube have heat filament inside that heats catodes and after years carbon is acumulated(from heating) on one of the catodes (in your case green) causing green signal shorting to the ground, screen goes green and TV shuts off (protect mode) because its pulling to much current.
Third but not common problem possibly be a Bad Flyback...I suppose there is some way the flyback could do it but I would do a lot more before reaching that conclusion...

Not able to get red tones on TV

the problem is at the crt base .there r three red, blue n green o/put.verify if there is dry in the soldering n check the red cathode voltage it must b around 150 .if not then check the resistor that feeds the red o/put.it could b 12 to 15k. all crt have 3 driver color red blue n green, whenever one driver not working the color changes.that wat happened to ur tv now i do not know wat model u have.the drivers may b transistors or now its ic that r being used like tda 6103q.best of luck

50inch toshiba color problem

Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.

The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded overs.

Blue crt assmbly maybe?

its very possible that the blue CRT is horting the set out. Heres how you can test it. Remove the speaker grille and access panel behind the grille and you will see the crts. remove the blue crt circuit board from the end of the blue crt and make sure it isnt touching anything then try powering up the set if it doesnt shut down then you have found the problem and you will need a new crt. or you can switch the blue circuit with the green and try it iwth the blue on green and the green on the blue then if the screen turns green before shutting down you will know that its a problem in the blue drive circuit and not the crt. lety me know if you need further assistance.
