Laptop touchpad won't stop scrolling.

buy a usb mouse and forget the touchpad, you can try removing the touchpad then restart the laptop then let it find it again and it will reinstall the device. But the problem will probably return. I had a nightmare with this problem on a compaq, which i gave up fixing as it just kept recurring and i purchased a wireless mouse for it

The driver is available for download on HP's Support website. Just download the software and run the program and that should fix your problem.

Hello, this type of problem is common and arises due to improper device driver action or when the driver gets corrupt. In order to fix this you may need to reinstall the touchpad driver. Since you have a Compaq laptop, the driver is located in a folder named SWSetup in the C:\ drive of your computer. After you reinstall the software and restart the laptop, you will need to reconfigure your touchpad device.
To configure the touchpad open the control panel,and go to mouse under Hardware & Sound option. There you can configure the pointer speed, buttons, horizontal and vertical scrolling, inertial movement, etc. according to your wish.

The notebook model you have is shipped with the Synaptics touchpad driver. Please follow the below steps to enable scrolling features:

1. Open Control panel -> click on Mouse . It will display Mouse Properties dialog box.
2. Under Mouse properties Window click the Device Settings tab
3. Click on Device Settings -> Settings button. This will display the Properties for Synaptics TouchPad on PS/2 port.

4. Follow the steps below to enable the Tapping Feature :

Highlight Tapping in the Left hand side , and Check the Enable tapping in the Right hand box .

5. Follow the steps below to enable Scroll feature:

Highlight Virtual Scrolling in the Left hand side and Check both the boxes in the right hand side.
6. Click OK .
Alternatively you can anble scrolling by reinstalling touchpad driver.

just remove the ram and clean it and fix it again or you can try with connecting other monitor and make sure the laptop is booting properly only problem with screen.

Just select one of the 3 V2000, the one YOU have, then select your OS, download all the drivers you need.

i need to get audio drive for above the same problem

MY SOLUTION - Hello, I have Compaq Presario V2000 Laptop and at once my touchpad stopped working.

So i rebooted it several times but it still didn't work.

Then i detached the battery from the laptop and let it like that for 5 min. I attached the battery again and the touchpad was working again.

So, try the simplest solutions first before you start messing with complicating solutions.
