Very long loading times on ps2 slim!!!

I was experiencing the same problem on my ps2 slim scph-90004. When I put a game in my ps2 it loads but after some time it just freezes at the same spot.I went to many shops but they dont recognize my problem.Then i open my ps2 slim (Warning:Opening of ps2 my void your warranty) and saw the lens which was not adjusted. SO,if you are experiencing the same problem then use the above method(For slim only).Look at the rod near the lens which has two small clips on it. Open the screws on the clips and take out your ps2 lens.Clean it with a cotton.Set the lens in some different position and load your games .

Take the game out and see if the laser is towards the back. If so, pull the eye towards the spindle or where the hole of the game goes.....and clean the laser eye with a q tip soaked in alcohol.....

Games like God of War 2, Grand Turismo 4 etc take time to load and some times these games are not loaded by consoles with weak lenses or dirty lens.You should consider cleaning your lens.Cleaning lens might solve your problem plus here is a trick for you to play such heavy games(Although its about playing DVDs on PS2 but you can play your game by following this tip the same way.)

I have a ps2 slim SCPH-79001, so I am not sure if it will work with the fat ps2s but:

Turn the ps2 horizontly with the ps2 front facing you. Then put it in, you should hear a few ticks (with the slim) and just tap it against you knee a few times until you jear it spinning.

Again, I'm not sure if this will work with the fat ps2, but I hope I helped.

simple explanation is all ps2s including the one with a fan and the slim one just have a lot of problems. before i switched to xbox i went threw 3 ps2s and all i did was play games on it. i assume sony wont cover it as i had to buy all of the ones i had.

Depending on the age of the console will depend on what games can be played.  I never had this issue with my ps2 original but with my slim console it won't play some games.

use a q-tip and rubbing alcohol to clean the lens.if you don't have a slim ps2 that will involve opening the ps2.it's not that hard really,works every time.

ps2 can play dvds but xbox needs a store bought xbox dvd remote to play dvds
the ps2 slim and the ps2 normal have a lot in common so thwere is not much difference, but the slim has a fliptop lid and the fat ps2 has a open and shut slide drive.If I were you I would get the slim because it is the only one you can get brand new nowadays. The xbox may have halo 1 and 2 but sometimes there are freezes on certain xboxes.

yeah, that happens on mine sometimes. IT happens on both the ps2 regular and my madden 07 for psp. I thin it's probably just trying to do too much at once, and slows down because the processor isn't powerful enough.

You must have a Slim model, as only slim models are aggrevating about adjusting and clenaing. If not take a Magnifying glass or Jewelers Loupe to look at the laser lens extremely close.Sometimes it takes a good bit to get it clear.
