You don't have a virus, you have the folders without an executeable link. Use windows explorer to delete the files you want to get rid of.

Hello Anirudh,

To run the hard drive in Linux

Connect to the Internet. You will need access to the Internet to download the install files.
Open your Terminal in Ubuntu. This is the screen with the prompt where you can type commands.
Type "sudo apt-get install Gparted." Type in your root password and answer "Yes" to any prompts.

Type "sudo GParted." This will open GParted.Click the GParted menu and select "Devices." Select your external hard drive from the list. It is important that you choose your external hard drive and not the drive that has your system installed on it. One way to ensure this is to check the capacity on this drive; for example, if your internal disk is 80 GB and your external disk is 40 GB, choose the disk that is 40 GB.Click the "Devices" menu and click "Create Partition Table." Click "Advanced." From the New Partition Table menu, choose an option, depending on your system. For example, if you are dual booting Windows and Ubuntu, you may want to choose MS-DOS. If you are only running Ubuntu, choose GPT.Create a partition. Select a section of unused space and click "New."Set up your partition. For partition size, set the size of your partition--for most purposes, you can make the partition the entire capacity of the disk. Next, choose a partition type; primary is suitable for most purposes. Next, choose a file system. For sharing across a Windows system, use Fat32. For sharing with an Apple system, use HFS or HFS+. For use with an Ubuntu system only, use EXT2, EXT3 or EXT4.Click "Apply." The operations will run and your hard disk will be ready to use.

Not able to detect the disk

We're going to need more information to troubleshoot, but if it's a new drive that's never been set up follow the instructions below. If these instructions aren't helpful, then please post back with more info and I'll help you further.

Your external hard drive likely has no partitions so Windows has no drive to mount. Follow these steps to create and format a partition for your external hard drive.

1. Press Win+R to open the Run command.
2. Type "Control" into the dialog box.
3. Double-click "Administrative Tools."
4. Double-click "Computer Management."
5. Select "Disk Management" under Storage.
6. Find the 250 GB External Hard drive in the right pane.
7. Right click on the drive and select "Create new partition".
8. After the partition is created you will need to format the partition.
9. Format the partition as NTFS unless you plan on booting off the hard drive, in which case format the partition as FAT32. You can also create multiple partitions if you want.
10. Enter My Computer and you will now see your external hard drive.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa.

Can not format my samsung hard drive with DOS command and Disk Genius and lost 49 GB capacity. What can I do?

You may have the hard drive partitioned into two or more partitions.
Delete all the partitions and create a single partition and then format this single partition on the hard drive.

Doesn't show any files and folders when drive opened

Congrats, You got a nice virus. Its better you backup your drivers and data from ur root partition format it. reinstall your operating system and install avg 8.5 before browsing any of the other partition. I can surely tell u your task manager, registry editor or show hide folder won't be working. There is no permanent solution to this other than format. But beware don't browse other partition before installing avg 8.5. Your earlier installed antivir has given its way to virus its of no use. You won't be able to install antivirus or visit any malware removal virus site. welcome back.

WD 500 GB resized by Norton Ghost Restore to 120 GB and can not get it to original size.

You should partition your new drive first to say 160Gb (you lose a bit after formatting) for 1st partition and the remaining capacity for the 2nd partition. Because your Ghost image is 120Gb it can only restore to a partition of 120Gb, that is why it shows 120Gb on a 500Gb on a single partition.
You may be able to fix this problem without starting again by using Disk Manager (from Control Panel - Admoinistrative Tools) to create a 2nd partition on the hard drive and format this partition.

160 gig external storage

Plug In your external drive! if you have any data back it up!(you said it was new so i assume there little to none) Go to start->run type diskmgmt.msc In the bottom pane look for your external drive! If there is a partition, right click and delete! Now the drive should appear full black on disk management! If not delets any other partitionin the drive. (Make sure you are deleting the external drive partition(s)) Now you can create drives by right clicking on the drive and click create partition! It should bring up a wizard which gives you the option to format, set partition sizes and everything!! If you don't wanna go through all that check out a third party software called Partition Magic: http://www.partitionmagic.com/home_homeoffice/products/overview.jsp?pcid=sp&pvid=pm80 hope this was helpful, regards, babb
