Sears Plasmaire spits water into room

Sears Plasmaire window room a/c was by FAR the best room air conditioner I've ever had. Used it for about 5 years with NO problems. Then, it started to spit water into the room from the vent--thrown out by the squirrel cage fan.
I've tried removing and cleaning it but nothing works. Yup, BTW, it was tilted at exactly the same angle the whole 5 years time, so that's not the problem.
Like I said tho' it was by FAR the best A/C I've ever had. The only way that I could tell that it was on--before the spitting started--was that the room was so cool--quiet to the n-th degree!
Don't have the model no. here with me. It is about a 8,000 BTU 110 unit.

I'm having problems understanding how the normal condensation that I presume should form on the outside tray is getting into the interior part of the tray. I've even tried tilting it DRASTICALLY, and it STILL gets into the squirrel cage fan somehow and spits. (Interior) Electronics are almost ruined at this point...

It's probably just holding water somewhere and getting thrown out. I've seen people drill holes on the bottoms to drain water quicker.

Testimonial: "Thanks so much for the drilling idea. If the water coming into the interior is from exterior overflow, that would work."

Haier 5500 window unit, spits water into the room sometimes. Also, water "sloshes" around inside the fan area & is quite noisy sometimes. ? Thankyou for your assistance...

You will need to reposition the unit to where it will be tilted downwards slightly outside.
The water will then flow out the back and not spit into the room.

I'm not sure if this is the same model I have, but

hi ' most of window type aircondition produces noise not same as the split type , but i see you have problem of the water that spits to your room, may be you can check the mounting of the unit, the proper mounting is it must be a little slant making the water run to its drainage . the edge of the casing must a little bit dropped lower in mounting.

Water in air conditioner

A lot of the newer window units design the outside fan to pickup the condensate water and sling it onto the coil. The evaporative effect makes the unit run more efficiently. They ususally don't spit, but if the unit is running well, otherwise, I would't worry about it.

(Tilted) Plasmaire spits water into room....

What your problem is is that water coming back into your face is condesation. Appearently there is a clog preventing your condensation water from draining out the back side of the a/c You can remove the a/c from it's sleeve, take it outside and with a pump sprayer (Type used for spraying insecticide) filled with water spray around the base of the a/c where the condensor coil sits (you should see a small drain channel in this area) If this drain channel is clogged water will back up and the squirrel cage will pick it up throwing it out into the house.. Good Luck on your repairs

Droplets of water are coming from the vents and it's making a noise like something is rattling around inside. What could this be?

The problem with this unit is that the evaporator, or the part of the air conditioner that 'creates' the colder air is not draining correctly. Pertaining to a window unit, it needs to be installed correctly with the correct amount of tilt toward outside, to allow the evaporator condensation water to drain. You may also want to check to make sure there aren't any plugged drain holes in the air conditioner housing.

The rattling you hear is most likely the blower fan spinning against the held water inside the unit.

I hope this helps! :)

Frigidaire window unit spits water into room

To be honest with you this is a good and a bad thing. The bad thing is that it is spitting water into the room. The good thing is that the unit is running Great. The amount of humidity it is removing. is greater and faster than it can run down and off the coil. See if there is any possible way to deflect the water. i would recommend trying to attach a piece of screen door material. It will likely keep the water from going through it.

Water spitting into room

If your AC is window unit, check the dirt underneath the unit and also check the level of your unit.

If your AC is a central unit, be sure check the drain pipe, should be toward to the outside.
