I have a Kenmore PlasmAire window ac Model 580-76129. Looks like the fan is not working (tho sounds like the compressor is trying to come on). Worth it to fix (cost?) or just get a new one?

The room temp is set to 72, but the a/c readout estimate seems way off (goes down to 70 but a mercury thermo says room is 84.

Window units have to be fairly new to justify repairing. parts are so expensive unless your doing it yourself can't come out.

SOURCE: Goodman CK60-1C model central AC unit blwing hot air

Clicking sound is the contactor engaging to start the outside unit. Check for a burnt off wire at the contactor. For some reason you are not getting power to the outside unit. If you find a burnt off wire shut off all power to it then remake the connection at the point of the circuit break.

SOURCE: thermostat window ac turns unit on and off 8 degrees above se

the unit may be drawing the cool air it just released back into itself, plus the air close to the unit may be a little cooler than the air in the rest of the room.

SOURCE: Duo Therm compressor tries to start and kicks out

I don't think these little units have a start capacitor but what I would do is check that the on/off switch wires to make sure they aren't loose. Also check the wires to the compressor for loose wires as well. It is possible that these are the first signs that the compressor is about to fail. They also can act up some when they haven't been used for awhile and then you try and start them up. Try running the unit for a few hours without asking it to cycle. It might just be a sticky valve.

Kenmore AC window unit model 253 70151 cuts on and off.

Circuit board could be the problem but compressor needs to be checked and there might be a loose electric connection or high voltage causing the ac to trip

My old Kenmore window unit has all of a sudden stopped working. Was working fine then just stopped coming on. The wall outlet checks out fine. Is there a re-set on the unit? What else can I check?

Hello, if the unit is receiving power check the capacitor, this is a round or oval can located inside the control panel of the Ac, it controls the fan and compressor operation.

I have a Kenmore 54701 Dehumidifer that quit working is there any thing to look for or just throw it out and buy a new one

Is it not powering at all? Remove cabinet and check glass fuse on power supply board

Is it running but no water?
Check to see if fan is blowing; if not then thermosenser on fan motor blown

Fan and compressor running but no water? Maybe the room is already dry; if not than probably have coolant leak - not worth fixing

(Tilted) Plasmaire spits water into room....

What your problem is is that water coming back into your face is condesation. Appearently there is a clog preventing your condensation water from draining out the back side of the a/c You can remove the a/c from it's sleeve, take it outside and with a pump sprayer (Type used for spraying insecticide) filled with water spray around the base of the a/c where the condensor coil sits (you should see a small drain channel in this area) If this drain channel is clogged water will back up and the squirrel cage will pick it up throwing it out into the house.. Good Luck on your repairs

Sears Plasmaire spits water into room

It's probably just holding water somewhere and getting thrown out. I've seen people drill holes on the bottoms to drain water quicker.

I turned on my AC. The compressor sounded like it was straining and the fan wouldn't go on, then compressor went off. But the green powwer light was still on on the plug. I turned it off, unplugged it....

I am guessing it is a window or wall unit right? not central AC? If thats the case, how old is it? New? can u return it? if not, if its older than 4 or 5 years, trash it and get a new one! If the fan isnt working after a few seconds or minutes the compressor will over heat and shut off, its not worth repairing

Re: Kenmore Plasmaire air conditioner; suddenly stopped working during night. Motor will initially turn on but no air coming through, then will stop

Most likely you have a bad fan,did you have a storm or lighting strike or power drop / outage .
These type of things can cause trouble with a weak electrical part - not know the age of the Unit - you claim it happen in the middle of the night - if the fan Humms and cut outit could be a cap. that helps you fan start - but the fan is damaged if it tryed to start time and time again . Call service if the unit is worth it .

REFRIGERATOR IS MAKING A BUZZING SOUND, not cooling

You have one of two problems going on. Your fan is spinning at hitting the sides. Or your compressor is shot which seems to be more the problem and even though it is cold the humming sound is a warning for you that the compressor is shot and it is more affordable to replace the fridge then the compressor. Sometimes compressor can cost more then the fridge.

Hello, I have a Kenmore 580.75124500 ac/heater

It is probably the compressor. You will need to check if the compressor is being called to come on. Do you hear the compressor running? If you do, I would remove the unit from the wall or window, and wash it down real good with a hose being careful not to get the electronics wet. If not and the unit sound different than it did before, it's probably time to buy a new one.
