I'de suggest you replace the dvd rom.

  • Anonymous Aug 31, 2009

    Well there could be software and hardward problem there. It might be the software is not communicating with the dvd-rom. What you can do is try upgrading the dvd driver.

  • Anonymous Aug 31, 2009

    What is the brand of DVD you are using? If you were ever able to burn dvd's maybe you need to see if the brand you are trying to use now is causing this problem. It could also be the lense gone for reading DVD. Are you able to read CD's.

Try updating the firmware of the optical drive depending on the model.

Cd/dvd drive not detected. D drive just disappeared

Hi there!

There's a few things that you need to check first.
Make sure that the cd/dvd is detected in BIOS,

If it is then there's a workaround for that problem of yours,
Go to the device manager then go to the cd/dvd uninstall it, then go to the REGEDIT that will lead you the registry. Please follow the instructions properly,
registry is the part of the computer you don't wanna mess with,

Go to this part when your already in the registry.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

then on the right hand side you should see the
upper and lower filter.

Delete the upper and lower filter.
Then restart the computer.
After that the cd/dvd should already be detected.
If not then you will end up replacing the cd/dvd itself.

Have a good day!

Samsung DVD writer suddenly not working.

Hi there..

I can understand the issue.

There are 2 ways to fix this up..

FIRST STEP :

Check whether the drive is listed in My Computer or not.
If its not detected then reboot the computer and get into BIOS.
Check whether CD driver is detected in BIOS.
If its not then i'd say please try to swap the cable between HDD & CD drive and restart the computer.
Check whether the computer is booting or not.
If not we can come to the conclusion that the drive is gone bad.

SECOND STEP:

Check whether the drive is listed in My Computer or not.
If the drive is listed in My Computer and still not working.
Then i'd say please go to SERVICES.MSC
Locate for the option IMAPI CD-BURNING service and right click on the option.
Go to properties and start the process and make the startup as Automatic. I've given the screenshot here.. Kindly go through it..

bd4d597.jpg

59c6f91.jpg

Click on start and now you reboot the computer and now check in My Computer whether you see CD Drive.

OR

The next step which we are going to follow up is very important.

Start->Run->regedit

Locate for the upper filter & Lower filter. Here is the location for finding the upper and lower filter..
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

After you click on the 4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318 option take a look on the right side you can find upper & lower filter.

Delete it & Restart the computer and now you are offset..

CAUTION: Use Registry Editor at your own risk. Any change using Registry Editor may cause severe and irreparable damage and may require you to reinstall your operating system. Internet Security Systems cannot guarantee that problems caused by the use of Registry Editor can be solved.
