This is originally caused by 'stuff' being stacked on top of the document feeder. When the tray tried to raise the originals into position to feed through the scanner, it is held down by the rear paper guide hitting the stack of 'stuff'. Do this often enough and the release mechanism that prevents damage to the gears and motors gets worn or damaged.
Opening and closing the front door of the copier will reset the error message. If the error reoccurs for no apparent reason, then the tray lift mechanism needs to be serviced. This takes about an hour for a tech to perform.
There is one fix the user might be able to apply. There is a metal tab that sticks out the front of the document tray. When the tray is lifted, the tension on this tab is released. This tab is what applies tension to the internal lift gears for the tray lift. If you can 'adjust' this tab to cause more tension to be applied when the tray is dropped back to its normal position, this might be enough to not get any more C-143E's under normal conditions. Caution is called for as the assembly will not survive any rough handling.
SOURCE: minolta copier di-450 code : c-143e
The correct error code is C 143E - EDH malfunctions. Please reset the malfunctuion code to open and closed the front door,or turn OFF wait 5 sec. and turn ON the power switch. If the problem persist change the image processing board.
Pick up motor malfunction
Whwn the document handling tray goes to up the pick up raised position sensor is not unblocked when the motor started turning forward.Whwn thw DHT goes down the pick up lower position sensor is not unblocked after the motors started turning backward.
During ascent motion check :
1.Foreign matter on pick up motor gear
2.Pick up motor operatio. The voltage across PJ11A 1 of main control board and GND is 0V when the motor is deenergized and 24 V when the motor is energized when the DHT is raised after the malfunction reset.
3.Pick up raised position sensor operation.
Change the motor, sensor or main control board.
During descent motion
1.Check the pick up motor gear.
2.Check the pick up motor operation
3Check the pick up lower position sensor operation.
