A broken drive belt is the most common reason a dryer won't spin. To fix this issue, turn the drum by hand. A working belt should provide some resistance, so if the drum turns very easily and loosely, the belt is probably broken.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HI4JXnh-YN8

More than likely it is the belt. The dryer has a motor that drives the drum usind a rubber belt that has probably broken. It is fairly easy to replace. Take top off dryer by lifting up top in front, (should be hinged) then you will see if belt is on or broken. Go to local appliance store with make and model number from your dryer and then you will have to lift drum out of case and put belt around it and replace. if you cannot reach belt to put around motor from top you will have to remove back access panel. Put belt on motor and dry away. Good luck.
Hello. The belt goes around the tub and the tension pulley. In fact, it is always a good idea to replace both the belt and the idler/tension pulley at the same time. J.

Your glides are brobably broken and missing. This will make the drum hard to turn and bind the motor. Get the front off the dryer: Start by popping the top with a putty knife. Get the screws out that hold the front on and take a look:
I could be wrong, but I don't know of a dryer that DOESN'T use a belt to turn the drum. If the motor is turning on, and the drum is not spinning, more than likely your suspicions are correct and the belt is broken. You can find a replacement at searspartsdirect.com.
