I am plugged in to a power source. I go through the steps, and all it says is "initialize." How do I get to where it says "finalize?"
Use the sowftwear Ulead VideoStudio 11 and import your clip form the mini dvd oky and this sowftwear will import your clip to a folder
go to that folder and do what you want with your clips save it to cd or dvd
and thin format your minidvd to use it with the camrecorder

You have to out it in playback mode then press function i just figured it two things
A) make sure its plugged in
B) make sure its in playback mode i bought this camera yesterday and i was flying off the walls trying to figure it out cause it doesnt say in the stupid manual taht it has to be in playback mode so press down the on/off button to put it in playback mode then function disk operations then finalize disk and it works fine

I have a canon DC210 and had the same problem, you can't finalized if the scenes were shot in VR mode, shoot scenes in Video mode and you can finalize the disc...
We had the same problem, and had the camera exchanged and same thing happened with that one.
I called Canon, JVC, and Memorex, because those are the discs that we used.
Everyone just blamed each other, for either, bad discs, or bad camera.
What we finally came up with was, we have a recordable DVD player that was fairly cheap, under $100. We hooked up the camera to the DVD and copied it to a full size disc. It somehow finalized the disc.
We were also told that we could bring our disc to a video place to have them do it, finalize it. I would cost us $85 per disc.
I hope this helps. I can tell you though, I am returning this camera and getting a different one. We are very disappointed in that finalization step. We almost lost everything!
I am having problems finalising my canon 201. I have put it in playback mode, but the entry for finalise is not highlighted as disc info & initialise...
is that an indication that my disc initialise step was incomplete? I do not wish to re-initialise and lose the data on DVD-RW.

Have a Canon 310....the DVD is Full and cannot read or finalize the DVD. Canon told me because the disk is full the camera read or finalize. Why didn't Canon tell the user this problem before hand. Does anyone know how I can recover my event on this DVD? Canon should be banned for creating a camcorder that doesn't do the job as indicated as per the product sold. This DVD contains my daughter's recent graduation and it is lost because on Canon's BS Camcorder!

In my canonDC211 DVD camcorder the finalize button is not highlighted as that of disc info and disc initialize.I also don't want to clear the data in the disc.When i put my DVD in computer,it is written that no data is found.
