While it is ringing, press the start button to receive a fax.

check in the menu to see if you have accidently set the line type to digital or pbx. check also that the line is connected to the line socket and not the tel socket as on some machine this can stop transmission also you can check to make sure yu dont have to press 9 or 0 first in the menu for fax set up check the configuation of the line.. ie pulse or digital.or tone dialling

Get rid of your DIGITAL FAX line and go back to an old ANALOG phone line.

Buy yourself a Canon, Rico, or Brother FAX machine.

Most likely has a problem with the fax PCB board inside it. Its not worth repair.

Do you have a spare phone line cord to plug inbetween the phone jack and the fax?

That might do the trick.
