Violent shaking on spin cycle

I have an 80 series top loading Kenmore and it shakes violently when it gets to it's top speed on the spin cycle. I made sure it was level but I don't know what else to do.

  • artistichair Aug 17, 2009

I did make sure that it is level and it is replacing another washer in the same location and I also ran it thru a full cycle without any clothes and it still did the same thing. I think there are springs that help keep the tub centered. Is it possible that one of them broke or came loose? I purchased it used and the former owner is willing to refund but I would rather avoid loading it up and returning it by fixing it myself if I can. Any more suggestions? Thanks.

Make sure you loads are balanced, put heaviest clothes in first... if you can rock it by hand then the legs are not adjusted properly. If you stand 2 feet away from front of machine, jump up and down and see it move the floor is soft and you need 2 sheets of plywood to make 1 1/2 inches put under the machine

You problem could be the same as mine. First tilt the machine over and make sure tub springs are intact.Second make sure you have all you skid pads(my problem), they are very hard semi circle pieces of plastic. They allow your tub to slide side to side, and I don't mean TILT side to side. from the underside of the machine you will only be able to see the two small nipples where they snap through the metal frame.Violent shaking on spin cycle - 11_18_2011_6_27_42_pm.jpg11_18_2011_6_28_05_pm.jpg

Kenmore Oasis HE shakes violently during spin cycle

Machine legs should be adjusted so that machine is level and standing on all four legs. The load in the machine should be evenly distributed. Utube has an excellent video on washing machine repair.

Samsung P801 Front Loader shakes violently during spin cycle.

When the washer goes into spin cycle it is suppost to start at a slow speed and continue to increase speed (to a maximum of 800 RPM) as the water leaves the clothes. Your washer is going directly to 800 RPM which causes the washer to shake and stop giving you the E4 code. The control board that controls this speed increase must be replaced.

Shook Violently first time on spin cycle

Make sure the washer is leveled properly and all four feet are resting on the floor. If it is level, try running one cysle without any clothes in it to see it is spins without that violent shaking.. you may have also had an out of balance load.. Hope that helps!

Slight noise when running, really rough stop

The violent halt is usually caused by a bad basket drive (basically your brake). This is a very lengthy and complex repair (30 - 45 minutes by a professional) that takes a special tool.

My Kenmore 80 series washer shakes uncontrollably in spin cycle.

try this
the washer needs to be leveled on a flat surface to properly function rock forwards then backwards
washing machine have stablizers on there leg pegs this insures it has a proper setting on floor
if this did not help there is a spring under neith that you did not load back to bucket to keep in place
most likely it just needs to be rocked you will know if pegs are seated properly

90 Series Top Load Washer shakes during spin cycle

The Guide Plate underneath is out of alignment,, You might have to call me on this one. The only reason I am sure of this is because when my delivery guys would deliver a direct drive washer such as your, sometimes when the machine is laid down to far on its side, it gets out of alignment. Easy fix,, Just hard to explain.

Kenmore washer shakes violently during spin cycle

syrny,

Not sure what you did, exactly. First, does the machine shake when spun empty...and then with water only? If so, you have probably failed to tighten something or misaligned something. Go over your work.

No shakes? Rearrange your load. You may have a pair of heavy wet jeans which is throwing the whole thing out of kilter. It only takes about a half pound of sodden clothing to do this.
