My Acer aspire turns on shows windows logo then goes to black screen, what can I do?

Depending on your version of windows, I would trying starting in safe mode to see if the computer does boot. If it does, then you want to restart again, go to advanced boot options and select "start windows with last known good configuration." Access advanced boot options following the steps at this link. hi blinkgirl556

was there a new hardware that was added to your laptop? bluescreens often are caused by hardware.
while the laptop is booting up when you are asked for options on how to start you computer is there an option for start windows using last known configuration? if there is try that and if it still goes into bluescreen you may want to try and recover your laptop using the hp recovery cd or recovery tool. if it still doesn't work most likely you have a bad memory chip.

hope this helps

INSPIRON 640M WILL NOT GO INTO SAFE MODE , IT GIVES OPTIONS BUT NONE OF THEM WORK , THEN IT GOES TO THE BLANK SCREEN.

Try going to safe mode manually. The steps mentioned below will help you accessing the safe mode

Step 1: Shut down your PC completely.
Step 2: Turn on the Power button.
Step 3: As soon as you turn it on start hitting the F8 key on your keyboard until you get to a black screen called "Windows Advanced option". (If you don't get to that that screen but you end up reaching the blue screen than that means you have delayed in hitting the F8 key. start again from step 1.)
Step 4: As soon as you reach "Windows Advanced option" use your down arrow keys to choose an option called "Safe Mode/Safe mode with networking".
Step 5: Select that and HIT ENTER.

My benq joybook says that one of the files is missing

You have corrupt system files on the hard drive which is why your getting that message. Try to go into safe mode. If you can get into safe mode, do a system restore back to the last date that the machine was working properly. If you can't get into safe mode then you'll need to wipe out the hard drive and restore it back to factory defaults. If you need help doing that, let me know and I'll be happy to help you further.

It sounds like the video card could not handle the monitor in the board room - As it is unless you have a graphics based laptop you rarely get a high quality video card built into your laptop.

Causes aside boot your computer in safe mode - This is done by tapping F8 several times during startup

A menu should pop up - select boot in safe mode

A long list of text will pass in front of the monitor - Do not fret this is just Windows telling you what it is loading.

Once at your desktop you should be able to see everything clearly

Right click on your desktop

Goto Properties

Settings

Drag the Screen Resolution down to something more appropriate e.g. 1024 x 768
