Either the switch is broken, the throat sensor has failed, or there is a broken wire.

Reverse is a manual operation of the switch. Normal forward is an operation of the sensor plus the switch being set to automatic operation.

Check for stuck paper and remove if any. Then check if motor is ok with a multimeter and also main switch.

SOURCE: Paper Shredder will not shut off when in auto mode

if you answer no to the following question, then I do know your solution: Q: When you unplug the unit immediately after your action of "When those paper complete the shredder does not turn off."...and then plug it back in, does the shredder STILL continue to operate? if no, then the solution is to disassemble the feeder unit and manually unclog the paper sensor.

SOURCE: fellowes paper shredder

Though I only work with Fellowes shredders this sounds like a paper feed sensor issue. If your unit has a mechanical paper feed sensor you can try to jiggle it in and out to see if any paper may have become jammed behind switch. If the unit has an electronic sensor it may simply need to be cleaned with a Qtip dipped in rubbing alchohol.
If neither of these help your paper feed sensor or your pc1.gif board has gone bad and you will have to contact your manufacturer for further parts availability.

SOURCE: Royal 15mx only works in reverse after clearing jammed paper

try resetting the shreddar, unplugging it waiting for about 20 seconds and then plugging back in. Check to make sure there is no paper or paper clips stuck in the shreddar, make sure the unit is properly mounted on bin, the overheat light isn't on is it? if none of this helps and you have a warranty on your shreddar now would be a good time ot call them as you might have a hardware problem.

SOURCE: doesn't work going forward only in reverse

sounds like you have a sensor problem. is it automatic reversing on jamb? if so sensor is defective, or there is a bind causing sensor to reverse only, a bent shaft could cause that

My Executive Machines EPS 1200X shredder works in reverse, but does not shred.

there should be a forward/ reverse switch that is used to unjam paper being shredded. check that
if it is automatic then check for paper stuck in the shredder causing the reverse action.

Dynex shredder only works in reverse

If your shredder is jamed with paper, the centre of your machine has a switch which is plastic. If there is paper under this switch it will prevent it from being pushed downward, it will not shred paper, it will only work in reverse. Unplug your machine and clear the paper jam so the little plastic switch will be able to go down and it should work. Hope this works for you.

Paper jam, what to do

Rotate the shredder into "Auto" and reverse to loosen any paper jam that is stopping the gears. Pull out any papers that are sticking out from the shredder feeder. If there is no progress then unplug the shredder and remove the shredder top from the bin. Turn it upside down and use tweezers to free any paper that is blocking the gear. Select the "Auto" option and feed paper into the center of the feeder tray if the shredder is only working in reverse mode. The sensor is located in the middle of the feeder tray and could be blocked by jammed paper. Use an index card to firmly unblock any paper that could be blocking the sensor.

I jammed it with too much paper

Check the Power Ensure that the shredder top is firmly placed in the shredder basket if the unit will not operate. If the top is not in place the feeder will not work and accept any paper. Make sure it is firmly plugged into the wall outlet and that the outlet is active. Rest the Shredder Let the shredder cool down if the shredder has been running continuously for a long time. It may have overheated and needs to be left in the off position for at least 30 minutes to reset. Verify the basket is empty or not too full as that will cause the shredder to deactivate. Clear Paper Jam Rotate the shredder into "Auto" and reverse to loosen any paper jam that is stopping the gears. Pull out any papers that are sticking out from the shredder feeder. If there is no progress then unplug the shredder and remove the shredder top from the bin. Turn it upside down and use tweezers to free any paper that is blocking the gear. Auto Mode Not Working Select the "Auto" option and feed paper into the center of the feeder tray if the shredder is only working in reverse mode. Only runs in reverse

I just had this problem with my shredder. I think the problem started with a bin that was full. Running the shredder in reverse resulted in shredded paper being pulled up into the slot used to feed paper into the shredder. Some of this shredded paper was blocking the little plastic tab that activates the switch when paper is inserted, so the shredder would no longer start when paper was inserted. I emptied the bin and removed the shredded paper from the feed slot, being careful not to break the plastic "sensor" while removing the paper from under it. The shredder works fine now.

I have a Royal CX 66 Crosscut shredder and attempted to shred 10 pages. The unit shredded 1/2 of the papers and the other 1/2 are stuck in the shredder; the reverse mode will not release the papers. Is...

The Royal cx-6 shredder is a small consumer shredder rated for "up to 6 sheets at a time" so yes it will jam with anything more that 6.
If running it in reverse won't work you will have to try to open it up and see if you can manually turn things to get the paper back out...there is no other way if it wont run in reverse...hopefully when you have the paper removed the machine will still function.

Shredder jammed

For any jammed shredder..try the following.. pull backwards on the paper while you switch the machine into reverse. Try not to tear the paper as if there is nothing to hold onto then you can't help the motor.
If this dosn't work then you will have to take the top cover off(after unplugging of course.) and the try to force the paper backwards out of the machine by turnings the cutting blades or gears in the reverse direction.
