SOURCE: working great until i emptied it now nothing is working

There is a sensor at the back, you can only see a small slot with a little piece of metal, the actuator, that when the top section, the shredder, is in its rigt place in contact with the box will function.
GOOD LUCK.

SOURCE: DM15C stops after 4 seconds, open bin light comes on

I lived with the problem for 6+ Months -- drove me NUTS -- Today, I called Fellows -- Spoke to "JoAnn"... She said this works 80% of the time...
Pull out the bin -- put your foot inside to hold the shredder down -- pull up on the top of the shredder -- you WILL hear a POP as the plastic top disengages from the bottom but TRUST ME THIS IS OK! -- take off this top section (which houses the blades) -- flip it over -- you will see 6 screws total but it is the sets of 2 screws close together to focus on -- right next to the screws you will see a tiny glass sensor -- use a q-tip and alcohol to give them a wipe -- press the top back on -- bin back in -- you are DONE -- This took me less than 1 minute and it works as it did the day I got it! Go shred something!  :)

look for two LED lights where paper falls into bin and wipe them off, but the sensors could be faulty as well. I have seen both.

I emptied the shredder and now the red overheat/door open light comes on when I turn it on. will not allow me to shred anything. please help!

There is an interlock that prevents your shredder from operating without the bin in place. Something may be stuck inside, preventing the bin from closing the interlock. There also could be a shred of paper preventing operation.

Embassy shredder open door light won't go off after emptying bin. Therefore no shredding

The shredder probably has some kind of switch or sensor that detects that the bin is in its correct installed position. The interlock may be broken or blocked by paper shreds. An inspection inside the bin recess may reveal the cause so that it can be corrected.

Keeps stopping with overload light on. How can this be fixed

The most likely cause is that the shredded paper, has tightly wrapped itself in the blades. One possible cause is by shredding labels (like Avery Labels) or any paper which has adhesive on it. (Causes it to attach the cut pieces to between the cutters.) It reaches a point where there is so much bound up on the blades that even a single sheet of paper will cause an overload. The fix is simple to describe, but difficult to accomplish. You must go in and manually remove all of the paper bound up in the blades. It's not easy, I found that using a needle nose pliers worked best. Lot of digging and tugging (paper will pack between the blades very tightly). Sometimes a small, slotted screwdriver will aid in being able to pry out bits and pieces (it's not going to come out in anything but small chunks; at best). Don't forget to unplug your shredder before you start; those blades are sharp. This happened several times with my last shredder *Royal), but not once with my current shredder (Fellows). I tend to believe that the better quality shredders are worth the extra money. But any shredder will become a problem if you shred labels (like Avery) or paper products that has adhesive on it. (Another common mistake is shredding junk mail that has any kind of adhesive associated with it. Best to open and check first.) One other thing, ALL shredders need to be oiled on a regular basis. They make special oil for this, you can usually find small bottles of it at Wally World or the like. Best practice is to squirt some shredder oil in a serpentine pattern. over a piece of paper to be shredded and run it through. Do this whenever you empty the shredder bin. (Important for the life of your shredder.)

Beeps and stops; doesn't stop when empty

As for your first part - It sounds like there is something wrong with the switch lever that moves to complete the electrical circuit to start the shredder. On every shredder I have seen, there is a little "bellows" linked up to this lever that pushes it back so the machine will shut off. Most of the time all you have to do is put another piece of paper in and let that get shredded and the shredder will stop afterwards. If not, then just use the main switch to turn the shredder off.
Second, the beeping during "mid-shred" sounds like a warning that the shredder is starting to overheat and shut down. If this is the case, just wait a few minutes to allow it to cool down and try to finish the shredding you have. I have found that if you feed a shredder a constant stream of paper to shred, this might cause the shredder to overheat.
Also, the shredder may get overloaded with pieces of the shredded paper. Here is the way to check on that:
1. UNPLUG THE ELECTRICAL CORD FROM WHEREVER YOU HAVE IT PLUGGED IN.
2. Lift the shredder from the bin and turn it upside down.
3. Look for an excessive amount of paper in the bottom of the shredder. If there is a lot, you can remove it in several ways. (Most likely the bin is quite full at this point.) Pull the majority of it out and put it in the bin. If there are pieces of paper that you can pull out with your fingers, use a tool (needle-nose pliers, serrated tweezers, a hemostat, etc.) to get those difficult pieces out.

Replace the unit on the bin making sure that it is the same way you took it off. In most cases (on the better shredders), there is a notch on the underside of the shredder that needs to be on top of a "nub" that is on the edge of the inside top of the bin. Unless that nub is aligned with the slot, the shredder will not work.

Shredder wont shred

My boss has a shredder that will not run unless the bin is exactly centered in the bottom of the unit. There is a safety switch inside there, and a magnet to activate it. Make sure nothing is interfering with the bin or the shredder fitting together.
On other units, there is a slot that must match up with the shredder. It will only work one way. See of the shredder will turn around and put it on the bin the other way.

We missed emptying out the machine, now we are not able to open the drawer. What can we do?

Try shaking the machine to lower the cuttings in the bin. You might have to pull really ******* the bin to remove it. Be careful you do not break handle on the bin. The machine should have stopped shredding when the bin full sensors were activated, if they did not , then you have bad sensors in the unit and they should be replaced.
