My dish Vip722k dual keeps resetting! My dish vip722 keeps on rebooting every day, starting on May 23rd.

The problem was the screen froze and then after 93 seconds it makes a snowy screen noise then it says no signal and it says Dish network Starting up with the 2007 logo and says It should take no more than 5 minutes to complete. I am so outraged about this. Can somebody please HELP me ?!!

This sounds like there is an issue with the power to the 722K. Really, the only step that MAY fix this issue is to do a hard reset. Basically unplug the receiver from the wall outlet for 10-15 seconds and plug it back into the wall outlet, not a surge protector. If you have done this and this is still happening, the issue is the receiver itself and your best option would be to get a replacement for it.

SOURCE: Dish Network "Blue" Smart Card upgrade... Now get only "015"

The solution is usually a simple one and that has been suggested already but I will ask you to try one thing first. Remove the new smartcard and do not put one in. If the receiver still displays a picture and yoou can get to menu 611 run a check switch. After this is performed cancel out of the screens and re insert the new smartcard. Once the system comes back up perform the same steps as you did before with the smart card removed. If this fails you can try the solution they offered which was to update the sofware. There is no reason your software should be outdated if you were using this receiver before the new smartcard but try anyway as it may SOMEHOW work. Using the remote turn the receiver itself off. Allow the receiver sometime to turn itself back on-this could take awhile so plan this when you leave for work or are going to be gone from the house for sometime so you do not get bored waiting for this to occur. If the receiver has not turned back on in 45 minutes or more then the receiver will either need replacing -which i suggest- or they will try to send you a new smartcard if you talk to Cust service. Tell them you want a service call to fix the receiver. While you have them on the phone verify your receiver number and the new smartcard number which is on the back of the card and ask them to send a hit to the receiver. If the receiver has not been associated with the new smartcard or if the smartcard was not loaded with all of your programmming this should fix the issue. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

SOURCE: Dish network dvr vip722 freezes

I am sorry to hear of your issue and I wish I was able to bear better news but I am afraid that once there is an issue with the internal hard drive there is no way to retrieve the information off of it using common methods such as using on screen prompts or at least that is what technical support has stated.I am sure you already know that Dish charges a one time fee of 39.99 to make the expansion USB port active so that what you are asking is possible. If you have not paid the 39.99 yet I would call customer service to see that if you do so and the receiver is downgraded to a non dvr unit would they transfer that fee. I expect they would not and my suggesting that is that on a non dvr unit I know you can access the information on the hard drive if the receiver is malfunctioning. I know you are probably very frustrated to say the least right now but if you are interested is discovering other possible set up configurations Dish offers a Sling box which is integrated with your internet connection and is very fascinating with the possibilities it provides. Thanks for using Fix Ya and if I can be of further assistance please let me know.

SOURCE: Dish Network remote wont control tv2 on my dual tuner

Your problem may be as simple as having the UHF antenna on the back of the receiver moved closer to the second TV. I suggest pigtailling it. This is a job best left to a professional due to the different configurations that may exist and assuring you have properly made connections. If this is an ongoing issue talk with the CSC agent and refuse to pay the service fee based on your past issues with the system. There are many other possibilities that could be the cause but this is the most likely and least involved approach and I am 99.9 percent sure this will solve your issue. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

SOURCE: Viore tv won't see dish network

I will assume this is a direct connect from the wall plate to the TV. With that said you need to run a scan on the set to lock in the channel the second TV is modulated to either 60 air or 73 cable usually. Go into the menu on the tv and select the auto channel search. Some sets scan both sides at once others require you to choose cable or off air. Once this is done you should find the signal.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

SOURCE: Program sony remote to operate dish vip722

The Sony RM-YD029 Remote control will work with the Dish Network VIP722 DVR HD Satellite Receiver, but the Dish Network VIP722's Primary remote address must be set to 1.

The procedure below will allow Sony RM-YD029 remote control to operate Dish VIP722.

Using the Dish Network Remote Control -
1. Press menu 2 times to get to system info page
2. In the system info page the primary remote address is in a white box (bubble) followed by a Green TV (1)symbol that says IR and indicates you the channel your remote control one is configured. The Sony RM-YD029 will work when this primary remote address number (in the white box) is set to 1.

If the Primary Remote Address of your VIP722 Remote control 1 is not set to channel 1, here is how to change it:

1. While displaying the system info page, press and hold the SAT button on your dish network remote until all other modes are flashing, about 3 seconds.
2. then press the '1' button on the numeric pad of your dish remote
3. then press the '#' button on the numeric pad of the dish remote
4. then press the 'record' button (red dot button - stores setting)
5. At this point you should see a number 1 in front of the primary remote address on the dish system info page

Ensure you enter the corresponding IR code into your Sony remote control per the instructions in the manual or Sony's web site. My 722 works with Sony IR code - 01775.

How do you keep the reciever from Overheating

The VIP722 always runs hot. A build up of dust can restrict air flow and cause overheating. When I had the VIP722, I had a small USB powered fan at the left-rear corner of the box to force cooling. I switched to a Hopper 3 and found the external cooling was not necessary. Hopper 3 has 16 tuners, so you never have conflicts.

Hi, Mary with Dish Network Customer Service. Since the DVR is the only thing having the freezing issue, it sounds like it maybe a hard drive issue. I would recommend resetting the receiver. Unplug it from the power supply for 10 seconds and then let the receiver reboot itself. If you are still having this issue, I would recommend calling Dish Network and we will need to replace the receiver. Hard Drive issues do not resolve themselves and only get worse over time. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

If you are using the remote to operate an IR frequency, you can program that component to the VCR or AUX button on the new remote. I have provided the instructions on how to program the remote. I hope this helps.

Address To 2nd IR Receiver Using AUX Mode
  • Remote: 3.4, 4.4, 5.3, 5.4, 6.3, 6.4, 20.0, and 21.0
    1. Go to 2nd IR receiver
    2. Go to System Info Screen
    3. Hold down the AUX button until all mode lights light up.
    4. Press 3 then enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
    5. Press the pound (#) button
    6. Once the AUX button blinks three times, press record. Note: If successful the number selected in step 4 will appear in the System Info screen under Remote Address.

Dish vip 622 and vip 722k frequent picture freeze and restart

Sounds like a signal strength issue. You may have either a low signal or something like a tree limb is blowing into the signal path dropping the signal strength to a point low enough to causes issues.
