I have a problem with a Compaq KB-9963 keyboard that I've connected to my Dell GX1 desktop PC. I had similar problems with a Microsoft Keyboard which I have recently replaced with the Compaq.
Most of the key presses are working fine and give the expected result eg press e and I get e and shift+e gives me E but some keys are not giving the correct result.
eg " is obtainable from the shift + ' key and vice versa @ is obtainable from shift+2 key.
The numeric keypad seems to be OK
the lowercase results from all keys is as follows:-
`1234567890-= (seems OK)
qwertyuiop[] (seems OK)
asdfghjkl;'\ ((last key SHOULD have given the USA symbol for number)
\zxcvbnm,./ (seems OK)
Now using the SHIFT key with each key press above, I get.....
!@#$%^&*()_+ (the 2nd key should be ", the 3rd key should be POUND sign, the rst seem OK)
QWERTYUIOP{} (seems OK)
ASDFGHJKL:"| ( the LAST key press should be a squigly horizontal line symbol, the NEXT to LAST should be the USA symbol for number, the rest seem OK)
|ZXCVBNM<>? (the first key press should be a symbol showing two broken vertical lines, the rest seem OK)
I look forward to your assistance in this matter.
My PC is running Windows XP Professional.

Hello,
If you connect the drives using one single ribbon cable with two connectors on it then you need to set the drives to Master/Slave using the jumpers on the drives. Master being your OS drive.
If you are running a very old Operating System, make sure it can support a 20GB drive.
If it works in service mode, then it is not a hardware problem. Boot Windows in "Safe Mode" using the F5 Key as it is Booting to Windows. That should make it re-discover the KB and Mouse. Make sure the KB and Mouse are pluged into the right ports. Mouse Green and KB Purple
check whether ur ram is working or not. remove the cpu side door and remove the ram from the ram slot and clean it using a eraser gently and fix again it back and power ur pc on and check it
I don't think any screws come out of that laptop to get the keyboard out. Look at the very top edge of the keyboard for some release tabs, they are small, to release the keyboard.
Your keyboard might be shot, the circuit board that is. Try calling Dell and sending it in for them to fix. Another way is to connect an external keyboard and changing the settings around in control panel with it.
