Not sure what you mean by 10X is that a size? A lot of men's patterns go by shest measurements. But you can go on line to revelry.com or Redheart.com etc, ANY wool selling place online for all sorts of free knitting patterns. :-)

ask at your local wool shop or craft store often they have contact info for people willing to knit or crochet for people, if you explain what you want most knitters can find a pattern to make what you want, but it will not be cheap.

You might try the needle just one size smaller than your size 5 needle.

Depends on the fabric...cotton shrinks quite a bit and some fabrics should not be washed, like some wools. And make sure you lay the pattern on top of the fabric...you have to be able to see the pattern to cut it.

You should probably do a test to make sure that the pattern using 4-ply yields the same size as it would using 3-ply, otherwise your finished item will not be the correct size.
