If you tryed a universal remote , that remote should have at least worked the volume and the channels selector. It could be whats called a remote sensor assy thats mounted up toward the front of the set on the inside between the buttons. Its not really a user changeable part as there is soldering involved to replace the sensor. Realisticly, the correct way to trouble-shoot this set is to look at the data or logic line coming out of the remote sensor with an osilliscope to see the data and if it goes all the way to the microprocessor IC. If it does and no remote operation happens then the Micro's bad. Theres way to much Hi-voltage in these sets for a handi-person to tinker with, and its advised that a tech take a look at this set for you . Sorry I couldnbt be of more assistance. Good Luck

SOURCE: Programming remote to toshiba Tv
I did this the other day and I think it was 1000 that worked with my RCA universal remote. Once I found the code, it was smooth sailing.
SOURCE: how do i program my new tv code into my time
Go to the time warner website, they should have accessory section there page, and there you find codes.
SOURCE: i need a code to make my time warner remote
According to timewarnercable.com, the codes for a toshiba tv are 074, 168, or 170.
If none of these codes work, I suggest you try the code search function. To do this, follow the steps listed below.
1. Turn on the tv
2. Press "select" and "tv" together until the LED blinks twice.
3. Using the keypad on the remote, type in the digits 9-9-1. This will open the "code library." The LED should blink twice.
4. Press "power."
5. Press "channel up" key repeatedly until the tv switches off.
6. When the tv turns off, press "tv" on the remote to lock in the code.
Your remote should now be programed to your tv.
I hope this helps, and good luck!
Sincerely,
Der Strom
