HL-660 Brother Laser Printer.

I have an 'oldie' HL-660 Brother Laser Printer. Works great but it needs more memory.

I plugged-in an 8meg chip but it does not recogize it.
Is there a code for that?

    Thank you dante777

I never imagined this would be a user installation.

I did not follow the manual because I didn't have one.
    Now I do! THANKS!!!

I checked around and found another SIMM.
Although they are mostly indestructible, this might have been a bad one ... or who knows?

No more cut off pages now!

    Thanks for your help.

No - there is no code for that, the printer should recognize the additional 8MB memory instantly after restart.
Did you follow the manual description on page 4-5 (41-42 in the pdf file)?

  1. Install the SIMM into the slot and push gently until it clicks into place.
  2. Do not touch the memory chips and the surface of the main controller board. If static electricity collects, it damages the memory.
I would assume that either the SIMM is not connected correctly (it should fit in only one direction and should really "click" in) or the SIMM itself is damaged.

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

How do I clear the memory from my Brother HL-1440 printer?

Printer memory will clear if you simply unplug it from the wall. More likely, the old document was in your computer's disk, and you can control what prints from there.

My Brother HL 2140 laser printer is plugged in but will not power on. I've tried plugging it in to other outlets with no luck. Help!

Hi there!
First make sure that the printer is connected securely from the power outlet to the rear of of the machine. And press the on/off switch on the right side of the printer. The blue light/ go button should lit up.
Hope this helps. Rate if it works. Thanks

Manual paper feed works but not automatic feed.

I've been told labels have to be manually fed on that printer.
