I understand your concern, these systems are daunting.

Open the box plug it in hit the start button and first screen is usually pick a language.

These new Windows OS are very user friendly and think it will guide you thru the process of getting started and connecting to the internet.

Depending where you purchased the PC many stores have help service at their locations.

Always maintain a secure physical backup(removable drive) for your priceless photos, music and documents. When these systems crash it is a train wreck trying to recover lost documents. Protect your personal information CC and the like.

If you have a second computer near by I would search for answers to questions as I go.(Microsoft websites are very helpful)

Updating to 10 early in the process is probably a good idea.

Saying "no" more than yes when it asks for more information.

Recently having to replace my tried and true XP has turned out to be a delight. In the whole process just plugged in the new and loaded up the programs that I used the most. I still keep the old XP running and have connected the two together to share the files to make it a little easier in the transition.

Hope this has helped?.

When we are deep water (500 ft or deeper) the fish finder will display 3.5-10 ft. and won't show the fish or shows tons of fish. Are we able to set the depth that we would like to see eg: if we are...

Im not familiar with your particular unit but you should be using a low frequency transducer for water over 500'; something like a 50 kHz transducer or a dual frequency transducer like a 50/200kHz for detail with the high freq. but increased depth range on the lower frequency. As far as setting it to 250 ft, you should be able to use the range feature and adjust the maximum to 250'. typically the factory default is automatic so it will caonstantly adjust the range based on the maximum current depth.

The gun dose not fire the pin all the way in ?

Dewalt list the obvious causes below.
Remember that the gun may not facilitate the use on specific materials that are just too much for the gun to handle. The most common cause for this issue is depth adjustment is not set properly. Also make sure that the nails being used are the correct nails for the gun. Its possible to buy the wrong type and they look very similar to the ones needed.

Here is The website addy for Dewalts pdf user manual and tech tips.

I am unable to raise or lower the cutting surface of my DW734 thickness planer. The turn handle is very hard to turn. Is there some kind of a locking mechanism ? If I had a manual I might be able to figure...

Follow this link: http://servicenet.dewalt.com/Products/Detail?productNumber=DW734

This will allow you to download the manual and exploded art for base, cutterhead and motor. You may also want to check the position of the turret stop. First of all, make sure the cutterhead lockdown lever is disengaged. Here is from the manual:

Your planer is equipped with a turret stop (M), shown in

Figure 11, for repetitive planing of pre-set depths. Stops are

set at 0", 1/4", 1/2" and 3/4". Use the 0" setting when planing

between 1/8" and 1/4".

TO SET A PLANING DEPTH

1. Be sure the carriage is set above 1-1/4" before trying to

set the turret stop.

2. Turn the turret stop until the desired measurement

shows (Fig. 11).

3. Unlock the head lock lever (Fig. 8). Turn the depth

adjustment crank, lowering the carriage by the desired

increments, until it contacts the turret stop.

NOTE: DO NOT USE FORCE TO CRANK THE CARRIAGE

BELOW THE LEVEL THAT THE TURRET STOP INDICATES.

PERMANENT DAMAGE TO THE HEIGHT

ADJUSTMENT SYSTEM ON YOUR PLANER WILL

RESULT.

NOTE: The 3/4" turret stop can be adjusted for other planing

thicknesses. Adjusting the 3/4" turret stop does not affect the

other turret stop settings.

TO ADJUST THE 3/4" STOP FOR OTHER

THICKNESSES

1. Unlock the head lock lever (Fig. 8) and turn the adjustment

handle counterclockwise to raise the cutter head.

2. From the back of the tool, locate the turret adjustment

bolt (N) shown in Figure 11. This bolt is set for a 3/4"

depth of cut at the factory. Use the crescent wrench provided

to loosen the jam nut. Adjust the bolt up or down to
reach the desired planing depth.

3. Turn the depth adjustment crank, lowering the carriage by
the desired increments, until it contacts the turret stop.

Hope this helps.

I have dewalt dc618, nail doesn't goes all the way in, please help?

Below find information on how to adjust for depth, however if you have already made adjustment then check for broken tip on driver blade. The blade is not expensive and available from dewalt service center.

Please note the following from manual:

Adjusting Depth
The depth that the fastener is driven can be adjusted using
the depth adjustment wheel (C) on the side of the tool.
WARNING: To reduce risk of serious injury from
accidental actuation when attempting to adjust depth,
ALWAYS:
• Remove battery pack.
• Engage contact trip lock-off.
• Avoid contact with trigger during adjustments.
1. To drive the nail shallower, rotate the depth adjustment
wheel (C). There are twelve depth settings, 1 being the
shallowest and 6 being the deepest.
2. To sink a nail deeper, rotate the depth adjustment
wheel (C) to a higher setting.

I cannot get my Bosch 1594 planer to go to actual zero on cut depth. It always removes some material even when I have it dialed to zero.I have had it for a number of years and it has never been able to do a...

The unit will most likley have to be dismantled and the depth adjustment system checked for proper operation. Sometimes a bit of wood shavings will get lodged in the screw mechanism and keep it from traveling to its full range. This will most likley cause a sitiuation where you won't get actual zero. Bosch has online drawings of all their tools if you want to perform the service yourself or you can go to a service center to have it checked.
