under the hood on the fuel injection rail there should be a cap on it for a pressure test take that off and what looks like a valve stem on a tire press on that if you get fuel spray then its working if not you might have to check out the fuel pump wires etc
No power to fuel pump? Hook fuel pump
to car battery to make sure it's good an comes
on if it dose not replace it, if it dose you have a bad
fuel pump relay under hood in fuse or relay
box, or a short in wireing
Hi Don,
your fuel pump is supplied voltage from the fuel pump relay which is supplied voltage from the EEC power relay ( fuel pump relay-Green Base, EEC power relay has a Brown Base) usually located on the left side(drivers side) of the engine compartment. These relays are supplied voltage from the fuse links at the starter solenoid on the firewall near the Battery, I hope this Helps Don!

Fiesta diesels have only been out a short time in Australia, so you're not here:) Diesels don't usually have a fuel pump. They rely on the vacuum created by the injector pump's normal operation to draw fuel in. They don't have a distributor either as suggest in other posts. Regulation of the combustion is via the injector pump as it is compression ignition.
If your'e having this trouble it is most probably fuel supply. As fuel is drawn by vacuum, it is important there are no air leaks as well. Poorly fitted or tightened fuel lines or fuel filter will also cause the symptoms you have. If air gets into the system you loose the prime and the fuel wont be drawn into the pump. (Could be way you have to pump the primer pump)
You don't want it to be the injector pump, because they are expensive! Be careful if you need help because I've seen a lot of women pay for work that I'm very doubtful of the need!
check the fuses for the fuel pump then if its good check the wiring for the system.there is also a pump relay in the system to check,if there is no power to the tank unit then changing the pump is not going to fix the problem.
you don`t say did you check the fuses.were the connections at the fuel pump plug in good/clean condition.have you check for power at the pump wires at the tank you do then you will have to check the pump wires at the pump if you don`t have power by the tank then you need to check to see if power is powering up the relay and going out of the relay to the pump.you could have a corrosion problem under the relay box.
