My old table saw finally won't start. Had prior problems with the on/off switch, which was resolved. To be sure that wasn't the problem again, I removed it and connected the wires (i.e. just plug it in to see if it would start). It won't start this way either. Did the motor go out or is the on/off switch somehow necessary? Or something else entirely?
Sound like the motor finally went to motor heaven. If you have an ohm meter do a continuity test of the motor. Should be a low ohm reading. If high or infinity, fogit it.
One last thought! - check the motor brushes !!!!!!!!!!!!! If no contact with commutator the motor will not not be energized.
