you need to make sure the brushes move freely in the tubes and if they do I would suspect the armature is bad. LOOK for discoloration in the commutator thru the brush tubes.

You need an arbor press to do that.
If you have an auto mechanic you normally use they should have one and would probably be glad to do it for you.

dust and debris get under the plate; remove the fence from the base and the lock mechanism from the plate; flip saw over and remove the retaining nut from the spindle, the base should pull easily away from the plate.thoroughly clean the bottom of the plate and the top of the base and check for/remove any imperfections in either with emory cloth. use a mineral oil based lubricant when reassembling and be careful not to overtighten the retaining nut.blow out the base after use with an air gun and lube lightly after each day's use to avoid this in the future

make sure that your outlet is hot, once verfied that you have power going to the plug of the saw cord, verify that you dont have any breaks in the cord itself. once verified no issues with cord you can check for power at the switch, if there is power at the switch but not coming on, probably bad switch.

You could turn the laminate over.
The proper tools would be either a router with an edge bit ( what I and most cabinet makers use ) or a low tech utility knife (carpet knife ) yep just a razor knife - really it works.

You may be able to take the handle apart and, using compressed air, blow any sawdust out of the handle and switch but most likely you'll have to replace the switch.
