Oven works when it feels like it.

Our Amana stove has been acting up for a few months. At first it was always 40-60 degrees off in temperature, but then it started only heating to 150 or 200 degrees and getting no hotter no matter how long you waited. The next day it worked fine, so today(about three days later) I tried to heat it up and it got to 200 degrees, then started dropping. Also I smelled gas strongly. I turned it off and let it cool down, then I tried again. This time it heated perfectly, to the exact temperature on the dial. I finished with it, turned it off, it got cold. Then I needed it again, so I turned it on again, same day, and it got to about 150 and I smelled gas, so I right away turned it off and back on, and it heated fine again. What in the world is wrong with this oven???!

If the heating element cycles off and on, it's probably not the problem but a thermostat or high limit. The thermostat should have a sensor wire, a part for sensing temperature and should not be placed or located anywhere near the heating element.

The oven cannot keep a consistent temperature. It is mostly about 100 degrees above the selected temperature. My landlord replaced the stove about a month ago and the problem is worse now than it was...

It sounds to me like the oven thermostat is faulty, as this is what controls the temperature.
If you can , get a thermometer and place it in the oven and check the temp against the seting with the thermometer, if as you say it is 100 degrees above setting , then you need to replace the thermostat.

My oven is at least 15 degrees cooler than it should be. Since I have a digital stove, does that mean it cannot be repaired?

Try this

Turn oven temperature knob to OFF.

2. Press and hold both arrow pads for approximately 5 seconds.

3. A double digit will display ranging from -35 °F to 35 °F.

4. Immediately, press either:

• to increase oven temperature by 5 °F

• to decrease oven temperature by 5 °F

• When temperature is adjusted to a cooler setting, a minus sign (-) will

display with the offset temperature.

5. When desired temperature change is displayed, release control and

change will be automatically saved after a few seconds. Control will

return to time of day display.
• Offset temperature change will be retained through a power failure.
The complete manual can be downloaded at www.appliancehelponline.com just enter your model # and the manual will be on the left hand side.

Amana, ACS3350, gas slid - in range, the oven will not turn

I just had the same problem. I had it repaired and it was the oven ignitor. Labor and Parts $185. I now have an additional problem and I have to call the repair person back. The oven starts up and preheats to temp I set of 350 degrees. Then after awhile it will shut off and after another few minutes the clock will come back on and blink. I will repress oven bake and it will go for a short time and then shut off. I don't know what the problem is yet. I am totaly dis gusted with this stove. The stove is only 8 years old!

I have an Amana AGR5715QDS and when I turn it on and set it for any temperature, lets say 350 degrees, it does not turn on or heat up. The stove top burners still work fine and the door appears to be OK,...

Hi. This sounds like a weak igniter, the symptoms usually are: burner won't light, or takes longer than normal to ignite the burner, may or may not smell gas in the oven, does not maintain set temperature or burner does not come on fully. On gas ovens, a glo igniter is like a light bulb, the more you cook, the faster it wears out. Bottom line, needs to be replaced. Good luck.

Amana arg7800ww oven will not come up to temperature.

Your gas valve has a thermocouple circuit that will not let gas flow until the ignitor is hot enough. A failed ignitor can still glow but not be hot enough to open the gas valve. Replace your ignitor.

Gas Oven doesn't work under 450 degrees

most common issue is a bad bake ignitor, easy fix, probalby about $75, located on the side of the bake burner, simple to replace a few screws and 2 wires
