your oven does not generate steam, only pulls moisture out of what you you place inside of it, poultry being the highest moisture content, i would look into what you are cooking

Check to see if there is something blocking the burner tube. It sounds like it is blocked.

According to the model number you supplied it looks like your oven use a glow bar ignitor not a pilot light. In that case there is no place to hold a fire. what happens with these when you turn the oven on 120 volts goes to the ignitor causing it to heat up ,the amp draw across the ignitor causes the gas safety valve to open, and then lights the gas. So if you turn your oven on you should see a bright red glow if not probably the the ignitor, to check it you would have to verify you actually have power going to it. If the ignitor glows but the gas valve does not open you will still need to replace the ignitor has to pull about 3.2 amps across ignitor to open safety valve. Your broil burner works the same way. And most of the ovens the floor of the oven comes out to allow easier acess to the ignitor. also if you have to change the ignitor put just a dab of dish detergent on the screws to help from stripping them

There is a cover plate that has two screws holding it down. Inspect the pilot area and you will see a hot surface igniter sitting right next to it.. That is what lights pilot and then the pilot lights main burner. You need a new igniter. Also do not touch any part of the hot surface igniter as human oil will shorten the life of part.

igniter needs changing very easy to do , I changed 3 last week on my rentals wont take but 15 min

no this should not have kille your bird.sorry to here about your bird. when using a self cleaning oven you should not use any king of oven cleaner in this will give of a smell that could have possibly cause the death of your bird but if no cleaner was used then your oven is in the clear

Does the fan sound like a squeling or rumbling?Is the fan blade itself scraping on something?

this is normal as after manufacture these units are stored before shipment and they put a coating on the elements and bake racks so they don't rust during storage

Replace the oven glow bar igniter. If you post an exact model number (located on sticker behind lower drawer) I can give you a part number.

If there is no spark at all then the circut is not being completed. The main problem that I had was that there was no ignition even though there WAS a spark and gas. I cleaned out the small pin hole sized inlet on the gas valve with a needle. This allowed the gas to enter the feeder and distribute the gas towards the ignition spark properly.

Also it is very important that the range be level. If there is a pitch to the range the gas may be exiting the distribution cap improperly resulting in improper distribution!
